Talking Texas to Georgia: Great SE Shindig Caravan

I know it is late in forming. But a few of us were late in signing up and being able to make the trip or not.

If any members in Texas, Louisianna, Mississippi or Alabama. That are going to the SE Shindig, and would like to caravan. Please reply in this thread.

So far from Texas is RedFox0099, Bo, FreebirdSRT and John Hennessey.

Bo, RedFox and I are heading out Thursday afternoon, from Houston. If any members along the way would like to meet up with us. Let us know.

    Cool

I don't know if you're planning to make the trek in one day. If you plan to stop, may I suggest Tuscaloosa, AL? This is the home of the Crimson Tide, so there are plenty of hotels for a city of just 80,000. I could recommend a restaurant or two...

T-town is 3.5 to 4 hours from downtown Atlanta.

I got to make a stop in Baton Rouge, La. (In-Laws) along the way and I deceided to leave on Thursday. Where are yall stopping, New Orleans maybe (about 5 hrs from Houston and only 1 hr from Baton Rouge). If yall stop there like Bo said you might I could leave Baton Rouge Early on Friday morning and meet up with yall there, say around 8 or 9 a.m.?

I will be leaving out of Abilene and this is why I will be going on Thursday, 1300 miles is just too much in one day for me.

Bo and I plan to leave Houston at 3:00pm on Thursday. His flight doesn't get in from Atlanta, lol. Until 1:00pm.

Baton Rouge is right where the I-10 and I-12 meet. Taking I-10 to New Orleans takes us 50 or more miles out of the way. We are going to take a straight shot across I-12 to Slidell. We will meet back up with I-10 in Slidell.

I have made the FL. border in 8 hours, from Houston. I have made this drive many times. I used to live in Boca Raton, FL.

Nathan, I assume you have Bo's cell number? If not. PM me and I will give you mine.

Get in touch with either of us and we can work out how to get you in the group. We may be ahead of you when you wake up Fri.

Glad you joined in for the Shindig.

We will be blowing through Beaumont/Orange and would love to stop off and grab another, for the ride to GA.

Can you leave Thursday early evening?

    Is Beau/Orange 2 or 2.5 hours from H-Town?

How far N. is T-town from Montgomery? What route are you taking to Perry?

I was looking at the Map. It take us through M-Town,lol. Then on to Columbus then Perry.

    Does that sound correct?

Do you want to meet up with the Texas caravan?

I do not know if you are meeting up with another caravan already.

    Cool

My edit to my earlier post didn't take. I hadn't noticed how far south of Atlanta Perry is. I'd probably take I-10 Mobile, then I-65 north to Montgomery before heading east from there on the "back roads". Tuscaloosa is not likely on your preferred route (unless you're coming from Dallas along I-20).

If you want to head S. and meet up with us in Montgomery. RedFox, if he wasn't going to the in-laws, would be able to meet up with you. But he is heading down through Dallas to Baton Rouge. So he will be down on I-10 as well.

I am going to PM you my Cell. I am glad you are Ok with us passing by Baton Rouge. I just don't see stopping in BR for the night. When the drive from Houston to Perry, GA. is 815 miles. Roughly 12.5 hours.

If we can get 6 hours in on Thursday. We will pull off the road around 9:00pm. If Bo is not too tired from his long day of travel. Maybe a few more hours on the road. It will make Friday's drive that many hours shorter. If we pull off at 9:00pm. We will still have a 6.5 hour drive Friday.

If you are going to go from B.R. to Hotlanta., starting Friday morning, you better start real early. Especially if you are going to Hotlanta first and then to the Track Friday eve. You will need a week to let the engine cool down, lol, before you can race.

no more trip to Atlanta, those plans have changed. I will be meeting up with yall and riding along to Perry and then we are off to the track.

I checked your link for the route map. That is the way we are planning to go. If you also check the map. You will see I-10 makes a dip to go to New Orleans. Then curves back up and turns heading east, to Miss. I-12 runs along the top of the U cutting time. We will stay on the map route which takes through hammond on I-12. I-10 dips down towards NO. If you go that way you are only adding distance and time to your trip. I-12 meets back up with I-10 at Slidell. I-10 then takes us into Mississippi and on the 65N (Montgomery,AL.).

no more trip to Atlanta, those plans have changed. I will be meeting up with yall and riding along to Perry and then we are off to the track. You have my number. Call to coordinate. Mags should have sent you a PM. He will need to meet up with you in Baton Rouge, then caravan to us, if you can catch us,lol.

    Nathan

I don't know why this forums always say I have too short of a message when what I typed above is far more than 10 letters.
