I found that getting at the back of the group is the best. Pace car only goes 75 mph. Slow down a bit, let the cars in front get ahead and then WOT. I've had my bimmer up to 105 using this method.
They typically let car clubs go out in one group if there are enough.

The deal is if you can get about 8 cars to show up you can talk them into putting your group on the track at the 1st of a group. That way your right behind the pace truck and you can push the pace truck driver to go faster than the 75mph. I went out with the Lincoln LS Club a few years back and that's just what we did and we ended up doing over a 100mph per lap.
