I get back there once or twice a year; graduated high school in Perry, have family in Des M and Souix City. I will probably go back for Christmas, so if you get anything going let me know.

I visit Iowa to watch my son at college wrestling tournaments. Last saturday, I left Fort Dodge and wasn't aware of the existing tornado warning. Terrible rain and wind desended upon me as I got on to Hwy 20 eastbound. It took me a little bit to find a local radio station where the warnings were broadcast. By then I was getting ahead of the storm. I think I was about 15 miles from the guy that was killed by the storm in Stratford.

The Magnum handled it great. The smallish windshield seems easier to keep cleared of water than larger ones on my previous cars.

Nice friendly folks in Iowa. But those highways are airport runway straight -- if one is short on sleep, they are brutal after 3-4 hours. How much lee-way do the police give folks on speed?

I have family down there and they say the police are strict with the speed limit, they'll pull you ever for 4 over, but in ALL the times I've driven down there, I held 15-20 over and I've never been bothered (they may just let 'outta towners' have a little more freedom).

Nice people down there, but too many miles of corn field in the summer for me .....

They are pretty strict on the highways for speed in iowa, the just raised the limits to 70 on the interstates. Anything much over that and they'll usually get ya, unless there to busy like everyone else in the state gocking at how old farmer John's corn or beans are growing.

As for the Iowa LX owners, it looks like i'm a LONE STATE here. Oh well means more looks for me.

My parents used to live in SW Iowa (Stanton), and I went to grad school at ISU in Ames. Still have lots of friends in the state, but seldom get back there unless we're on the way west to relatives in NE, etc. I do remember going home one Christmas and having to watch out in approaches to small towns as the locals often use a sudden change in limit to catch you for speeding in their little "trap."
Still in love with my first wife, and first car ('68 Charger)... Still have the wife!
