    Drag Expo

Stopped at Pheasant Run in St. Charles today for Drag Expo. Talked to a couple of the local drag strips about a possible LX day where a group of forum members might rent a track for a day of fun.

I would prefer Rt. 66 since it is close for me, but they want $4500 for a day, the price includes amubulance stand by, and track timing... but they would limit it to about 10 cars, and no or very few spectators. They said they had a problem with one of these before and had a couple thousand spectators show up... they are not interested in that for a private rental. (?) We would also have to get a $1M general liability insurance policy. I am thinking the insurance would be no big deal but getting 10 guys to pony up $450 a piece might be tougher when it only cost $20 to run at night during the week at Test and Tune.

I got cards from Byron, Cordova and Great Lakes too, I'll make some calls to se what kinds of terms and conditions they have. Be patient, I am getting married this Friday, flying out to Phoenix on THursday evening so I will be busy this week.

Talked to Tim at Comp Cams... I wondered and asked how they can make claims of 61 HP on both 5.7 and 6.1's in there HFI Cam advertisements. I also asked when their programer would be out that would let us LXers take advantage of these new cams. He told me that all their test data was based on the 5.7. They think that there will probably be around 40 HP or so gains on the 6.1, not the 61 they are getting on the 5.7, (they had to toss the stock computer to get there as they could not modify the programming on the DCX box). He told me that their programmer will be out in DAYS, not weeks or months, that will allow us to see the potential of these cams realized. (It's not listed in their "New Products for 2006" brochure).

What I didn't see that would be sweet?? 20" drag radials... But you never know... Christmas is coming!!

I did see a Black Mag RT in the parking lot with Personalized Plates... someone here?

Byron is in Byron, Illinois, about 20 minutes south of Rockford. Great Lakes is in Union Grove, Wisconsin a little north of Lake Geneva. I think Cordova is on the Illinois-Iowa border.

Cordova, is in the Quad Cities area, Great Lakes is in WI, just north of the Illinois border, Byron is near Rockford IL. I didn't see anyone there from Gateway... If you have info from there please post it, Madison is only 3 hours from Chicago.
    Edit> Rt. 66 is in Joliet.<

    Thanks,
