Damn! Just got into an accident!!!

Story: I was going West on Montrose, had just gotten off Lake Shore drive. It is a 1 lane street, I was in the main lane, he was to my right (where the bus stops). I thought he was going to make a right turn. He was in a Lexus RX330. We were at a red light. Light turned green, he tried to gun it and cut me off but he didn't beat me. He clipped my front bumper and my passenger side, front fender. His entire drivers side has my paint from the front to the end.

Obviously he is at fault. No cops showed up at the scene. He beat me to the police station and some how tried to say I was at fault. When I started to explain what happened and I even started to draw a picture for the cop, he got mad and said "who cares, the insurance companies will handle it." And the cop agreed and said we can leave.

I am so damn mad.... I wanted to follow him for a few blocks and re-fresh my Marine Corps combat skills.

I just talked to my insurance agent and I can take it where ever I want. I'm looking for a body shop that will over charge me. I don't care since that phucker is paying for it.

AND get this, I'm with All State. They said they will cover a rental for up to $30 per day. That's all they will cover. It just so happens that Thrifty rents 300's but for $99 per day. I have the pay the $69 difference and then go after him to get that money back.

I'm so mad, I can't even sleep now. I want to go to the shooting range!!!! What time does Maxon's open?!

Man that Sux! I can't believe the cops. Did they even do a report at the station? Did Allstate already OK that it was the other guy's fault without a police report? If so, that's pretty cool.

I'll meet you at Maxon's. I know your car is in the shop, but maybe a Chi-town shoot and M&G combo?

Dang Daniel, sorry to hear about this. Just sent you a return PM, so no worries on that end. Hopefully everything gets taken care of right away and you dont get stuck waiting for things to get taken care of from the insurance companies.

The cops didn't show up at the scene. Because the cars were driveable, they said just exchange info and go to the station. And like I said, he beat me to the station so when he was filing the report, he made it sound like I was at fault. ?? Somehow, he feels he had the right of way.

I explained to my insurance agent what happened. Just like I told you all, it is a 1 lane street. I was in the main lane so I had the right of way.

All State didn't officially say it was his fault but they know it is. It's just the BS waiting game now. The other guy had progressive and I've heard that they suck and take their time (if you are going against them).

That sucks Daniel. FWIW, passing in the inside lane on a single lane road is illegal in Chicago. A buddy got a ticket trying to do that. But since there was no cop at the scene, they can't issue a ticket.

I hate it when people try and do that, then again I'm guilty of doing that too at times if I'm behind a real slow-poke. But if you try and pull the pass from the right turn lane that you have to know when to let off if the guy who has the right of way isn't gonna let off.

I'm amazed at the audacity of that guy to try and blame the accident on you when it was he who wouldn't yield

Yes, I will admit I have done it a few times myself. BUT in my defense, I have only done it when I know I will be able to beat that car next to me. It has happened to me where I try to do that and then no one lets me in. I end up further back. lol

This damn kid thought I was going to be nice and let him pass.

THEN, to top it off, I don't know why but he said to me "My dad is going to call you. He is a lawyer." I stared at him like "WTF?"

Exactly, when you try it you have get a good jump so that it doesn't become a contest with the other person saying "oh no you didn't." If you don't then you gotta take your lickings and wait for the rest of traffic to pass.

Sounds like it was a punk kid who thought he was the shiat. I hope his dad has some sense in him and takes the keys away for a little bit.

That sucks man. I hate how douchebag yuppies like that drive around here. They have no concept of common sense at all. Karma is a bitch. He didnt get hurt yet, but its only a matter of time when you drive like an idiot. Glad to hear you're ok, thats the main thing. Your car will be lookin better than ever when its all fixed up Im sure.

Damn Progressive!!!! I told them that for a rental, I was a Chrysler 300. They said no because that is a "luxury" or "premium" category. So now I'm here arguing with this guy telling him I don't care what category it is. I'm asking for the same type of car that I own. It's not like I own a Geo Prizm and I'm asking for a 300. He is saying no, they will give me a basic sedan.

Of course I'm still going to rent the 300. Only I'm going to pay for it all out of pocket and then go after them for my money back.
