By the measurements, the 275/40/20 should be 28.6" tall and 305/35/20 should be 28.4" tall.

When I first got my Nitto's I kept them on the car for an extended period. I love them on the track. On the road in the rain they are better than an amp'd, red bull Mountain Dew cocktail--eyes wide open and a white fisted grip on the wheel (having empty lanes on either side would be a plus, too).

I have to disagree. I used to run them on my mid eleven second 98 Z28 M6. The car did not have traction control and I had no problems with them in heavy rain here in FL.

I would ususally get 6-9 months out of them depending in how many passes I made at the track. Now BFG DR's in the rain are a totally different animal.

according to the Nitto web site, the 305 needs a min rim with of 10in and recomends a 11-12 in. SRT8 Rims are 9.5 in with. Dose this mean we will need new rims???

Exactly. I run 315 Nitto DR's all year on my LS1 Trans Am. They do fine in the inclimate weather and very well at the track. The ET streets are better at the track, but terrible as a daily driver.

Dan, I got my nitto 18" DRs today and I'm thinking of running the nitto extreme perf. 555 in the front cause they look the same but are a real street tire.

They will be a terrible idea as a daily driver. They are of a very soft compound and will wear away in no time under daily driving. Not to mention your car will handle like crap because drag tires sidewalls are very soft plus the thread wear count is probably 100.

If you want street tires vredesteins or toyos are they way to go. In that order!

Yet another reason to get wider rear wheels!!!!! I need to start looking!

I wouldn't, they're super-soft, you'd be lucky to see 6 months of warm weather out of them.

They will also pick up a ton of crap on the road. I drove to E-Town a couple of times on my DR's and I can't even tell you how much garbage was on them.

It's not what's on your tires but rather what flies off your tires at high speed against your paint job. I had some BFG drag radials I kept on a '70 Cutlass and I always heard pinking noises from the rocks chipping the paint on my rear quarters.

I got about 6 weeks out of my first set of Nitto's, but then I really, really warmed them up at the track. I agree with the Vredestein / Toyo recommendation. I had Toyo Proxes4's on the car and loved them, and now have the Vreds--love them too. Personally, I do not think the Vreds are going to stay cheap for long, they're just too premium a tire to stay under $200 per at the sizes we are interested in.

I agree. DRs are not smart for everyday street driving.

I'm putting a group buy together through a local shop (friend) over on the srt8oc. $700 shipped if anyone is interested.

Are the 275's DR's or there street tire. I want to put them on the stock rim but only saw DR in the 315's on the web site?

Just want to make sure!
