View Full Version : My Wheels Experience (Rims were damaged by lcoal shop)

So a few months ago Feros found and bought 20” staggered Foose Nitrous wheels, we purchased them from a fellow forum member and everything was perfect. They arrived exactly as described, wonderfully packed to prevent damage, an overall good buying experience. We did buy them used, but that’s just a great way to save money.
So near Thanksgiving I took them to a local tire shop that had been recommended to have the TPS moved and the wheels put on the car….
1st problem – shop calls says we need spacers …. After some research and help from forums members I ordered the spacers “just in case” and called the shop and said “put on the wheels and put the car down, they won’t rub” but since I’m just a mere girl they wouldn’t do it until the spacer arrived. I chalked it up to they didn’t want to waste shop time while waiting on the spacers.
They didn’t use the spacers
Night before Thanksgiving I go pick up the car, it’s dark, I check the car and best I can tell all is well. But of course Feros wants pictures right away. Thanksgiving morning, before starting the Turkey or anything else I go out and begin to clean up the rims for official pictures.
2nd problem – Every single rim was damaged WTF? They put the rims pretty side down on the tire machine and scratched or dented them in evenly marked spaces all the way around…. Nooooo the idiots couldn’t stop after damaging one rim, the screwed them all up.
I email Feros pics and damage details, at first he thought it was a joke, but to his horror it was not a joke. http://s174.photobucket.com/albums/w108/GeekGrl/Wheel%20Damage/ (http://s174.photobucket.com/albums/w108/GeekGrl/Wheel%20Damage/)
3rd problem – They jacked the car up using the tail pipes, both are now perfectly smashed with their jack marks. This is dangerous, it’s a wonder the car didn’t fall!
Ok so my neighbor and close friend that recommended the shop took the car to them Friday after Thanksgiving to show them the damage, and the shop owner offered to replace the beauty rings … uhhh …NO… NOT and option ggrrrr.
So Monday I call the shop owner to discuss how this can be made right, his response “I need to talk to your husband or brother” …. Yes, he actually said that to me, now we all know I’m no mechanic but I’m not an idiot either, he had no problem taking the money from me for the work but now because I’m a girl he can’t talk to me BS.
Feros manages to call the shop and they deny doing any work for him, well duh, I paid for it, technically they did the work for me… but that just pissed me off even more.
After many more attempts to resolve this I filed a small claims suit, and won!
Shop owner now owes me almost 2000.00 for the rims and smashed tail pipes, as well as labor rates for Dodge dealership to move everything around.

As of yet I have not received a check, and he did have until Friday to file an appeal, which to my knowledge he has not. The state of Virginia allows me an option to easily take a lien against his property, which I will do if necessary …. After all didn’t I just prove “Don’t mess with my husband’s car on my watch and expect to get away with it, even if I’m a mere girl?”
Luckily Feros will be home soon and I will hand the check to him and he can make the decisions on how to get it corrected.

<Rumbling> “talk to my husband or brother …. My husband’s been deployed for a year; it’s not wise to piss me off just now”

So please avoid Impact Automotive Service in Williamsburg Virginia, ohhh and don’t try to mess with my husband’s car on my watch J

Crystal,

Not a great way to start a new year, but I'm gald that all worked out for you, or at least will work out for you in the end. Once you guys get all settled in let me know when and where to ship your hood to.

Oh tell Feros to think Yellow

You know, the more I hear from and about you the more impressed I am. You really are the best.

Feros is the luckiest man alive... at least he would be if the Gov't would let him spend more time with you!

Great job!

Wow Go Girl power!

Some people in the automotive field / business thinks it's okay to see if they can take advantage of a women. It happens quite often too!

They tried that crap with my wife at my own stealer-ship. They went on and on about how much work she needed on a car with less than 18k miles. There's nothing wrong with car other than a warranty fix of the e-brake. To make a long story short, I was one of their loyal and frequent customers. The mech/tech guys knew me, they admired my cars (2 highly modified LS1 powered Camaros) but the new servicewriters didn't so when I showed up to pick her up the the whole story miraculously change. I then told them my wife works at a prominent law firm (which she does) and she doesn't take too kindly to people f-ing with her.

It sucks that people still like screw over customers! I'm glad you got justice. It probably wouldn't have gotten to this stage had your hubby been there.

not in my shop,I look after the ladies,95% of my customers are ladies and their hubbies are pleased, due to the reason that I never rip anyone off,I cant afford to rip someone,1 ripped is 10 customers lost, its worked for me in the last 30 years.

Now you need to give them some nice negative publicity. Take it to the local newspaper. Crooks try to cheat women while their husbands are off saving the world.
Of course it seems you would have to play down to the poor woman (against everything I have read that you post) but hey it may help those who are a little less assertive and have been taken advantage of.

Its a shame there are people like this out there but its people like you who don't let it continue.:thumbs_u:

Good for you taking their slack asses to court!! I remember all the drama with the spacers, I chimed in because I also have the staggered Foose.

I really like those yellow and black Foose Nitrous, those are sweet!

Luckily for me I have had an excellent support system while Feros is gone, escpecially the local LXers in VA. And of course all the wonderful knowledge on the forums.

I'd like to think every military spouse does as I do and just gets stuff done. And that every community suppoprts them when needed.

I purposely waited until after court and the the appeal days had past to post because this is a public forum, and I didn't want to make a bad situation worse.

I think he only treated me like a girl hoping i'd go away and not bother, I didn't get the impression others (mainly girls) were treated that way.
Somehow he has been in business for about 15-18 years, and he told the judge no one has ever filed a small claims against him. He just so happened to piss in the wrong person's post toasties this time.

Again, the shop name is Impact Automotive Service in Williamsburg VA, I bet he doesn't see any more LX's in his shop.

You Go Girl!!
I find it very unprofessional that some male business owners think all women are incapable of doing business where a car is concerned. That's why I chuckle every time my wife and I buy a new car. She at one time was a Finance Mgr. for a dealership! When we go in to talk to the salesperson they always talk to me. Well she lets me make the call on the cars but then I unleash her on them! The looks are great! They keep trying to steer the conversation toward me but like a goalie I just kick them back to her. She's a lion when comes to financing, knowing all the "tricks of the trade". I just sit back and wait for the Owner of Gen Mgr. to show up and let them figure out she's a "ringer". Life's good sometimes. Keep up the good work and God Bless!

I am a former Marine and i worked for the base legal department. I learned that if any place screws over some or there family they can get black listed. Once on the black list they are on it for a year a no military person is allowed to go. The banks get that list also and will not issue a car loan also.

When i had my neon i out a rod threw the block. Turned it in for a quote only to replace. next thing i know they are calling me saying that my car is doen and i owe them 12k.

I took them to court because I had the turn in slip that stated in big letters "Inspect and advise do not repair"

After everything said in done I got my car back with the new motor for 2k and the Stealer ship was black listed. And in a military town that really hit there walllet.

You go girl!!!!!!!:beerchug:

I can't stand it when the mechanics think they can BS a woman. We are not stupid! They think they can pull crap over on us but we are not fooled. When I had my car in for service with my 20's on it, I made it clear not to scratch them. I make sure it's the right oil going in and not "new car oil". It's not that we "can't" work on our cars, but with the warranties, I want it documented that the dealer did the work so they can't blame us!

Feros is lucky to have you and keep up the good work. Are you able to fix the rims or do you have to replace them? Good luck, hope things work out.

Seriously, I'm glad you got this resolved.
