I've been asking about this for a while now...hence the name. Particularly a 2 door coupe SRT-8. :D A guy can dream cant he?

I think Dodge really needs to buiild a Hemi coupe. That would be incredible.

No more coupes FROM DCX, aside FROM Ragtops...

haven't you guys heard of the concept they're unveiling at detroit... the chrysler firepower! (the exclamation point is included in the name)... it's the viper platform with the 6.1L hemi... unforunately the cost will probably run up to $50,000 or $60,000, but it's still a coupe with the hemi

There WILL be an SRT-8 Charger. Pilot vehicles already exist.

why do they always wait so long to unveil these gd vehicles. i hate all this suspense. They started it with the magnum. The 300c was nice, but i wanted the magnum... and of course the magnum was the one that they waited until the summer to bring to dealerships... and now the charger, we had to wait a full year after the 300 and the magnum to see it, and these srt-8 vehicles... ugh.

The reason they try to create all this suspense is because it has been YEARS since DCX had a real hit. Which is what the 300 ended up being. They're hoping the same thing will happen with the Charger, frankly those of us at the dealerships are hoping the same thing as well.

The Charger will probably end up being the SRT12, but it could be the 4th incarnation of the the SRT8. The idea of Chrysler/Jeep HAVING anything to do with PVO/SRT just boils my blood. Chrysler has always been the luxury side of the partnership, while Dodge represents Performance. Now the only distincition is Chrysler gets the nice looking interiors and Dodge is left with crap.

Maybe my tastes are just boring, but when I compare the Magnum interior to that of the 300, I find the Chrysler to be overly-retro and bordering on gaudy. All that silver on the center console, the faux wood steering wheel, and the funky lookin' instrument panel - none of it does a thing for me. Give me the Dodge interior any day. It's clean, modern, functional, and appealing. Leave all the tinsel for Christmas tree decorations, please!

I personally can't wait to test drive even the Charger R/T but I really want a Charger SRT-8 when they come out. So I am semi-patiently waiting for it's release even though I will not be able to buy one until 2007. Are there any early specs on the car? Is it too much to dream that the engine size might be bumped up again for the more performance brand (AKA Dodge)?

My SRT-8 Wish List:
426 7.0L Hemi <- I said wish list. Besides what's another .9L over the 6.1L anyway.
American Racing Torque Thrust Chrome Alloys
Jet Black Paint
Body Colored Grill
Small Decklid Spoiler
LSD Rear Diff
6-speed Viper Tranny <- My only real complaint about the Charger is it isn't an MTX
Dynomax 3" true dual exhaust exiting before the rear tires (no x-pipe or resonators to keep it quiet).
Some sort of headers but not sure what brand.
Ram Air Scoop on the hood.

Ahh yes what better way to get the kids to school in a big hurry :)

It's not a question of making people wait. It's a question of getting the quality right. The first Chargers that were built got absolutely crucified in quality audits. They won't reach customers' hands. Basically the plant is "learning" how to build Chargers to the quality spec without impacting 300 and Magnum production. Then they piloted a few SRT-8 Chargers that looked like crap (but went like a scalded cat ;) ) The plant has vowed to shut down the Charger build and get it right rather than release a sub-par vehicle. You guy's just have to be patient.

Thanks for the info henry. It's good to know that a quality vehicle is coming out rather then one that was rushed out the door.

So you're saying the PVO Charger will have a 12 cylinder engine? I can't see that happening.
