mo & ks folks, watch out

Well guys i've just recieved several emails and tech articles lately that missouri has gone to 10% ethanol mix in all octanes and no longer, as of 1-1-08 , has to label it on the pumps. As a border jumper myself, i normally run into mo for gas as it's about 20 cents cheaper a gallon. I have noticed over the last month with diablo, that i'm getting knock retard of nearly 10 degrees timing, which i havent been getting in ks with 92 octane bp. I been chalking it up to chitty gas at a few stations but this is obviously why. Also been averaging about 2.1 mpg less with mo gas than with ks which also plays into factor here. Those of you from the c.f. know i put a lot of time and money into studying dodges/fords and lots of tech training from the dealer training facilities over the last 10 years. I wouldnt just jump on here and throw a thread out if i wasnt sure of what was going on. I dont want a big debate going about how ethanol is good/bad cause that normally just gets people fighting on the c.f. but we all can sit here and name at least five drawbacks to the blend. Either way just watch your mpg's and kr and if your close to the border like most of us near k.c. st louis maybe try from the other states and look at the diff. KS and il are thinking about adopting these measures too but have not yet.

wow, thats retarded.... Being that i live in MO, this really irritates the crap out of me, cuz I have the same probs w/ my Mag when i ran 10% ethanol through mine(or at least it seemed like it ;) ) I used to put 93 in just to get around this.... dammit!?

I live south of the border of MO, (Jane, MO in Macdonald county). I usually buy my gas at a Shell station about 1/2 mile from my house.

Looks like I may have to find best price in Arkansas instead. Thanks for the info.

yea , mr squiggles (haha, or brad whatever ) this effects you as 10% ethanol will cause timing to be pulled and worse gas mileage. Like i said in my 5.7 before any mods i lost nearly 1.8-2.3 based on outside temps. I was doing this as an experiement for tech articles i was writing for a local car club. Thats how we found out about this new issue of the gas. http://www.physorg.com/news118300883.html There is one station in platte that still sells none ethanol 91 octane at 40 cents over 87 octane. The only way to be sure is to call the stations and talk to someone , if there is someone there, with a brain . Most cashiers dont even know.

We have about three of us in the area that have started m & g ing more often , me, squiggles, and boss hemi. Also viper , buck 70 i've met from the c.f. We had two new members join the c.f. this month that also wanna do some things so when i get back on there we may figure out another m & g. Right now we are all working on ohio trip and saving up for that. There is a huge two day dodge show that hpac puts on once a year that we should all try to get together for also.

Go over to chargerforums.com . In regional section there is a meet and greet ohio thread. then in midwest section there is a "i'm going to ohio thread" that i started so we can organize and get together and go out there as one big convoy

I would love to be a part of any local M & Gs. I hope the weather man starts to cooperate with us so we can have one. this snow, ice, sleet stuff has got to stop!!! Just when I wash my car again to get the mess off the paint, it snows or sleets again. I had to miss the M & G at D&B because of the weather. Spring's commin'. :wink:

Well guys i'm organizing a caravan of kc folks to the ohio show this summer. I will create a thread on this forum too later this week but i've been primarily doing it over on the c.f.

I go to several car shows throughtout the year, almost everyweekend throughtout apr-oct. If you guys shoot me your personal emails i will email you all show info that i'm going to and you can decide what you want and not want to do . I would pm on here but that five at a time crap kinda sucks.

I feel all alone over here in Salina. I ve seen 4 other Magnum R/Ts running around town, I kinda thought about making up a flyer and seeing if they wanted to get together.

Im counting the days until Heartland PArk opens and I dumpp in some VP racing unleaded and see what it does. I was in TX last weekend and heard audible ping for the first time. Which is why the car felt faster at 90% throttle than WOT.
