What's up gentlemen? Quick question...

This morning and last night a message popped up on my EVIC after driving for a period of approx. 15-20 minutes that read "Check TPM System". My tire pressure when checked on the EVIC was between 35 and 37 on all four tires and when I physically checked them they were about the same as the read out. Only problem I found was that I was missing a valve cap. I checked to see if I would pull any codes and a message popped up saying "Check Park Assist". The park assist message only popped up once and when I turned the key off and checked again, it was gone. No codes. Only code I pulled wa P 0128 but that's from my 180 thermostat and it being the coldest day of the year yesterday on LI (gotta pull fuse 11 to clear later). I don't wanna just clear the codes without consulting you guys for suggestions. I really hate taking this car to the dealer every week for new problems. I can't afford to give the car up anymore.

Thanks!!

Probably just due to the cold weather, I wouldn't worry...............

Or you might have a tire pressure sensor going bad????????????

Keep an eye on it.

same answer as flrt. might be cause its freakin 8* outside or maybe the sensor is going out on you. is it with your stock wheels or your others ?

Hi.
Had the same problem on wife's '04 Pacifica when the weather first got cold.
You need to determine which TPMS you have, there are two - you may have to 'retrain' the system.

I think the change was made in the late '04, early '05 timeframe. Forum member fnkychkn may know for sure.

If you have the early-build system, you will need a washer-shaped magnet that fits over the valve stem. I had a suitable one from another project, but you may need to get something like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-Chrysler-Tire-Air-Pressure-Sensor-Tool-Magnet-TPMS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118QQcateg oryZ43989QQihZ008QQitemZ180198533654QQrdZ1QQsspage nameZWD1V

but don't spend that much!

The Pacifica EVIC has a selection that says something like 'Retrain TPMS'. When you select it, the EVIC displays something llike 'retrain LF' - you slip the magnet over the LF valve stem and after a couple of seconed the horn chirps a confirmation. The EVIC message changes to 'retrain RF'. Slip the magnet over the RF valve stem, wait for the chirp, move on to RR, then LR.

The whole thing takes about a minute.

Keep us poisted.

If it helps the car is an '07 so I'm sure the TPM is the newer setup. If it is a sensor going bad these are the stock wheels anyway so I don't mind all that much if so. The ID wheels that I have for summer have perfectly fine sensors in them. I think I'll just keep an eye on the pressure till then. And it started happening yesterday which WAS the coldest day of the year. I'm aiming towards that explaination.

"check TPM system" means the WCM (wireless control module), which monitors tire pressures, has detected a malfunction in the system. you'll need a scanner to find out what it is. if it only happens when cold, it's most likely a trigger module performance fault. TSB 08-008-07A (http://www.wkjeeps.com/misc/LX/TSB/TSB_0800807a.pdf) should take care of it.

cold weather only affects the pressure in the tires. it should not affect the system operation. if it detects a low pressure condition, it should display "xx tire low pressure" and the low pressure warning lamp should illuminate.
