Does anyone have one?
Im trying to sell my maggie to get one :)
I love the look but many have said to just get the SRT8. I drive my car for work a lot so Im think the Design is a good alternative to save a little gas.

The SRT design is similar to the Road and Track package on the Chargers. It comes with upgraded seats, exhaust, an extra 10hp over the regular 300c. It has the SRT design badge. Maybe its only in Canada?
From what im told it is basically like a Daytona Charger without the numbering of course.

Its probably like the magnum rt with the R/T package, extra power/better seats/suspension etc...

I've seen pics on other forums. From what I understand, Chrysler is no longer calling them "SRT Design" for 2008. They came up with a different name (due to SRT owners complaining?) Who knows?
Anyway, think carefully on what you want, and what you can afford. As an SRT owner myself, I love it and am biased. If the car looked exactly the same way it does now, but didn't have the "beast" under the hood, it wouldn't be nearly as much fun to drive! I literally have not had this much fun driving since I started driving fire trucks at age 23 going down the wrong side of the street with lights and siren blaring! I was between the C and the SRT and my wife told me to make sure to get the SRT because she knew that I would regret not getting it that day...
On the other hand, it won't do you much good to have a 6.1 that you drive as little as possible due to the premium gas usage...Either way, good luck with your search and purchase!

Yeah that srt design logo from 20 ft away says SRT, its a impostor, I saw one the other day, seats, exhaust, and 10 hp, Hmmm not digging it, But then again I hate what theve done to the 08 C period. It looks euro to me now.

They do have them in 2008 model.
As for the above remarks I disagree 100%.
I use my car as a work vehicle. The 6.1 will eat much more gas and will cost me 10,000 more here in Canada. That equals a lot more overall to me. I like the SRT Design as its a step up from every other C out there.

The difference between my 5.7 I had and the SRT for MPG was not even noticealbe..I mean cruise set at 80 I got 23 With the 5.7. I get 22.5 with the 6.1
Well worth the difference in my view.

I have a 2007 SRT Design and love it. I bought it instead of the SRT8 for the same reasons you're considering it. I like to say that it's the best 300C package you can get, rather than comparing it to the SRT8.
I don't know if the gas mileage is actually that big of a difference (maybe 2mpg), but premium gas and more expensive maintenance in general does increase the ongoing cost of the SRT8.

Sounds to me like you have already made up your mind. Be careful asking for opinions, we all feel strongly that we each made a great decision in purchasing our cars!
To each his own, BTW my SRT8 has averaged 17.5 mpg over 22000 miles including road course, autocross, and drag strip runs!

Far from an imposter or a poser most of the folks also say.

Its a nice ride. Its a step above the usual everyday C that everyone has and its not a the race car the SRT8 is. But its has a set of classy features all on its own.

I agree fully. We had the keys for the SRT8 sitting on the desk in fianance till the dude said the only warranty was 3 or 36k. Thats all I could have got. Plus, I would have had to pay gas gusler tax. Again, piss on that.
The SRT Design I got with full warranty for LIFE. Thats not just for the motor tranny and axels but covers eveything. If the seat stops moving it gets fixed even after 120k miles. Lovin it. So are the gear heads in my car club.

Dude,
Just get the real deal (SRT8). The smile on your face will outweigh the higher gas

I've got a Black 2007 300C SRT/Design, and love it. Didn't have the Gas Guzzler tax to pay, and better gas mileage. I to use this as an everyday driver, and mainly for long trips, and mileage was a primary consideration.
I don't know why some of the SRT-8 owners need to ditz it, jealousy I guess, or maybe they feel threatened. It's got power. So what, if the 8 might get to 80 a second before you, both had fun, and you can't do much more on the street. Now I sure don't believe the person about how good a mileage he gets’s at 80 mpg. I started only getting 20mpg at 1st (freeway driving only referenced), but now that it's broke in some, I'm up to about 21.5+ at a steady 78mph for a long trip. I was hoping for 22-23, but the SRT-D does have a little wider tire than the regular 300C. I did get 27 at 60-65 for about a 100 mile stretch; that surprised me to get that. I have not taken an 8 on a long trip to check mileage, but from other post's I've read, I didn't get the impression you would see 20mpg with one at that speed.
I love the interior, no wood or turtle shell look. Seats are very comfortable. I really like the look of the 20" wheels. I know the 2008's changes were not enough to ignore the discount I got on the 2007, instead of getting the '08. I have not researched for an '08 SRT-D (haven't needed to since happy with what I got).

Thanks for the imput guys.
Personally I like the 07 SRT-D look better than that of the 08 but I cannot find one new around here. The third break light is somewhat of a turnoff on the 08 models and IMHO the wheels on the 07 SRT-D are nicer. Looks like I have my mind made up. Maybe on day when I win my first poker championship Ill have the SRT8 and the D as my daily driver :p

Its a great ride man. I have no idea why I get or others get bashed so hard about it. Not like we stuck the &^#%$^# badge on the thing.
And I agree with the no wood crap or turtle shell bs.
And the seats I only saw in the Heritage cars, but with no perf in the middle.
Its not like the other 300Cs out there. And to get it in Steel Blue is a color you dont see.
Sorry I get on these rants ... I love the thing. Thats all I'll say on the subject anymore. I promise :)

Hello,
I'm here to ask a few questions about my new SRT 5.8 V8 that my wife bought me once I returned from deployment.
When I ride with my windows down and the car hit 2nd and 3rd gear cruising I hear like this muffler leak sound. I was wondering is this normal on all SRTs. Any info would be appreciated.

I never notice that, but havent' rode with the windows down much. It was nice out yesterday, so I ran with windows down. Tested with auto and manual shifting. The exhaust is to quite to really hear it, but I didn't hear anything like what your discribing.

Depends...I think you mean the 5.7 ?? engine, if so you may be hearing the MDS kicking in and switching to 4 cyl..the only way to really tell is the change in exhaust pitch.

I honestly don't care if you believe me or not, I get wonderful mileage with my 6.1, I don't think anyone was "ditz" your design pkg, but please understand it is nothing more then a option pkg you got with your 300. The actual SRT is a different model of the 300. As for the costs, I really don't care, I wouldn't have gotten one if that was the reason for a new car.

Yes, I mean 5.7. When does the MDS normally suppose to kick in. Mine kicks in before I hit 20 mph if I'm cruising. I do hear the change in exhaust but it's also a loud ticking type sound, the dealership said it's the 4 cylinders but I think it still sounds unusual.

Some folks have created a light to tell them when MDS is active. I believe the "how to do" is in the knowledge base. As for when it actuall comes on, it is really hard to tell, the computer looks for a number of things before it becomes active hence the light. That is really the only way to tell..
