I wondering as well, Im expecting some good runs. I hope CV shows up, Same day/Same Track is a good thing. As far as that being a FRI 392 motor, I beg to differ, the only thing FRI on that motor is Heads. The cams a HHP, And the rotating assembly's not FRI either. Its a SVS Stroker, But it sure sounds mean as hell with cut outs. Wondering if Matt's car will be ready for the Rumble?

I'm going to try my best to make this happen. I'll go ahead and register, and plan accordingly. I've got to leave a small window for an out though if work demands.

Trojan has the right of it; the head porting and valves are FRI. The springs and retainers are HHP, as is the cam. The rotating assembly is a Callies/CompStar large kit. The block was first worked by FRI, and then retouched by SVS. Everything else is SVS R&D. Jason, it arrived as an all FRI build, but the above is how it ended up.

As for Matt... I'll won't presume to speak for him. I will say, however, he won't be ready for this event. :doh: :sad:

PS: Be ready to drive it Cam/Chris. I'm terrible at it (and I'm pretty sure I've got 200lbs on ya Cam), so it wont be a fair compare unless you gents do your best behind the wheel.

That was essentially a requirement of HHP's; in order to run their Stage 3 cam, they strongly suggested we upgrade the springs/retainers to the Manleys/custom Ti stuffs, so we did. The valves are still the same valves supplied by FRI.

Me and Josh have been talking way more trash than that on the phone with each other and me and Stu have done the same. The truth is that I think they are all really good heads and will perform very evenly. I put lol at the end of that statement so this wouldnt happen. It is not me being bold or even confident, it was me poking at Josh and Stu, nothing more, nothing less. If any of you guys have seen moddin art volume 6, you would see me, Nathan(redfoxx), and stu talking allot of trash right beside each other. Your absolutely correct, I forgot about the mopar heads, they could very easily surprise all of us and win the entire shootout. Actually, now that I think about it, how do you define a win? I dont think you can in this case. The heads that make the most peak power isnt the winner is he, I would think we are looking for average power across the curve. Anyhow, there will be lots of good info coming from this comparo.

If we would have been told to build the best set of heads possible for a 392 with no budget, yes, we would have put different valves in, coatings on the valve stems, coatings in the combustion chamber, and maybe even a little bowl work, but that wasnt the case. A customer called us and wanted a set of our stage 3 heads, so that is what we sent, from there, it turned into a shoot-out. Its no biggie, all of the extra work we would have done is more so geared towards longevity and not so much towards performance. It will be good to see the results, I owned a set of the THS heads, so I know they will perform and I am sure the guys at BES know how to port heads, so I am sure they will perform well also. The mopar heads have performed great on fast56k's car so I am sure they will be good as well. My prediction is that the highest hp heads will make no more than 7hp more than the lowest hp heads. Tq could be all over the place.

I would have to think just the fact that it probably can't be done in the same day with different conditions and a different tune has to be done for each set up and one set may react better with the cam thats in there now, everything may be all over the place

its easy to to think that our heads will perform better when used with our cam, but how do you differentiate between whether its the cam thats making the extra power or if it is the heads in conjunction with the cam. They are using the HHP stage 3 cam, so with hhp knowing the specs on the cam, it probaly does give them a little advantage, but I dont think it is a huge advantage.

I was just relayin kinda what Stu told me... we were goin over some cam ideas w/my stroker and I wanted a huge lope on the car... so he simply stated that he has to talk to Andy and make sure the heads PPP is sending that their springs can handle such lift.... Alright bad news for me guys. I personally am a for sure no go, and now the car is for sure a no go, also. Nothing's wrong with it! So no worries there (thankfully!!)

But in full truth... well the one person I would trust to drive it that far, and pay to fix any (and I mean ANY) damage they caused, is out for work related reasons. And the other person I'd trust to trailer it and pay to fix ANY damage they caused it is also out. I'm simply not willing to trust anyone else unless I had a signed blank check in my hands when I handed her over... and even then the jaws of life would need to be used on my fist clenched around the keys. I think you guys can respect and understand that.

So, I and the 'Bean will need to catch you at the Spring Festival. Looking at that list fullofit_ put together though, I'm glad to see it doesnt look like our absence will be too badly felt.

Well I just happened to have a Sharadon tranny in my shop that a customer agreed to let me use and when my trans comes back it will go in his truck. He is waiting on parts anways.

All the customer cars are waiting on parts so tomorrow morning I will drop my motor and tranny in the truck. Tomorrow night I pick up some engines for customers and they will get knocked out pretty quick. Everything in my shop should be running by the end of next week.
