I want to start having my wasted gas money work for me. I drive like 80 miles a day and I'm spending hundreds a month on gas. I am not sure how they work I have been doing my research some say 6% back that would be a good bit after the whole year. Any advice I have Excellent credit so approval should not be a problem. But what offers the best service and what cards actually give you money back. I really would appreciate your guys advice.

6%? That has to be a promotional thing for the first month or so. The Chase Freedom gives 3% on the three categories you use most each month.

In a deal thats almost over with, I get 5% back on all Shell gas purchases forever. Since Shell is a top tier fuel I'm fine with that. The card is issued by Citibank and its a Mastercard good for anything. I use it only for gas and pay it off every month. For like the first 90 days its 5% off everything but thats just the worthless promo.
I posted a thread just like yours a few months back and a lot of guys piped up... Turns out the Discover Card gives you 5% back on any gas anywhere, forever. At least the Discover card that TheWagon has does that.
here is the Shell deal. Its only good until 12/31 so decide quick.

... and here is the Discover Open Road card.

If you have access to BP they have an initial 10% cash back and then its 5%. As a bonus they have the only premium that free of ethanol. The card is through Chase.

Ok so far bp looks like the best deal on my way home to day Im going to se what stations I have the most of.
All the cards sound good at first then they have a limit per year, and the american express rewards you dont get them until the year is over wtf.

I have this same Shell card, 5% on all shell gas purchases all the time, and 5% on all other purchases up to $2000 for 60 days. Then 1% back on all purchases after that.
Since Shell gas is about the same price as most other stations around here, its a great deal.
The thing I like about this card is it takes the cash back reward off of every months bill. I don't have to build up so many points before I can get the refund, its there every month.

I only use my BP card for gas, about $375. per month. You have to accumulate points so I do it about 2 or 3 times a year & get a $75 or $100 check in the mail. I like the pay at the pump, 15 cent discount & no ethanol for my turbo car.

I hadn't realized others did it differently. Yeah that does sound better.
I buy about $650 worth of gas every month and I get the 5% on every dime of it, and like Z06Yell says, its got no time limit.
Big time bummer about the Discover card. Its great for people who drive normal amounts I guess.
I have the right shell stations scouted out on my commute and I get about 5 cents off of the usual price by picking the cheapest station on the route, and then 5% off of that from the card.

Well that right there sounds like a pretty good deal.

Yea, the card I had previously, I got 1% reward on everything but had to build up 20 point increments. Then I had to call them, and have them apply the reward to my bill. What a pain. The Shell Mastercard is much better.

Ah, who has premium free of ethanol? Must be just in North Dakota. Pumps in VA are labeled on all grades.

Thanks for the responses well there was like 4 bp on the way home they all have the higher end of lower priced gas. I usually never go there because the gas at east coast is all ways 10cent cheaper than every where else rite now its like 2.90
