Hello Gang,
I can't believe that it has been 3 years and 29,480 miles since I took delivery of my base 300 sedan. It has been an interesting exprerience along the way so far. The best part about the whole experience is meeting and communicating with the great members of this forum. I can still remember the day that I took delivery, just as it was yesterday. I still have the same excitement and good feelings about the car now, as I did when I took delivery 3 years ago.
I can still remember calling the dealer to see if the car had come in and the sales consultant had said that it was in the detail shop getting cleaned up from the trip from Brampton. It was an overcast day that morning, and I was hoping that it wouldn't rain on the way back from the dealer.
I arrived at the dealer around noon that day and didn't see it at first. I can still remember teasing the sales consultant about one of the 300's that they had in the showroom. (If I remember, it was a Cool Vanilla C, with a red ribbon draped over the hood of the car (A la Lexus holiday commercial with the red ribbons) Mine was just getting finished when I arrived and we started going over the 'mountains' of paperwork that needed to be signed, approved, etc, and the other 'fun' stuff. After the marathon signing, it was time to go over the car in detail, I felt like a little kid at Christmas time. After that, It was time to get on the road for the trip home, the trip was uneventful until I arrived home and it started to rain. (Just what I didn't want to do given the fact that the car was just washed and waxed and clean from all the road grime and dirt from being on the carrier.
I can say that the car has been pretty much trouble free from the beginning. I know I had some minor issues over the last 3 years that the dealer had to address and fix, as well as the accident that happened 6 months after I had the car when I was rearended over the Memorial Day weekend back in '05, when an F-150 went into the back of the car and the resulting damage cost the other person's insurance company $1250 to fix. (First and only accident, and not one that I caused!)
I also remember when someone at work backed into the car and damaged the grille, and didn't even say anything to me about it. The body shop at the local Dodge dealership that did the bodywork after the accident was also the shop that replaced the grille for me for a cost of $280 that had to come out of my pocket. I was upset about that one, but I take pride in my car and wanted to get it fixed to keep the car looking good.
As far as modifications and upgrades, the only upgrades were the 6 disc radio, from the single CD, premium floor mats with the 'wingbars' and the splashguards that I had painted to match the color of the car, and the addition of the cabin air filter kit. Other than that, the car is just as it was when it left the line.
