My car was an early build 300C and the software date on the dash is Feb 04. I know there was a July 04 version and maybe even a newer one. I'm going in for service tomorrow and asked while it was in to reflash it and the service advisor said "Why what problem are you HAVING we don't reflash for no reason". I said because if they have a new version it must of been correcting problems. Was the best I could do. I remember a lot of discussion on this but what is the advantage or my reason to do this???

Feb 4th!!! Wow that's older than mine (2/25). Fixes that I know of are the temperture readout lag and a problem with the wipers going on intermitantly. If you get the software flashed, please ask your dealer what DC site he used to get the software from. My local dealer is willing to do the upgrade, but can't find it. (gotta love this computer on wheels)

So they told me they reflashed it today. I get in the car and go INTO the mode and it still says 2/25/04. Would it not say the date of the latest version if they reflashed it? The July 04 date?

You would think it would.

Just had mine done to-day. My car was built on the 24th of May and delivered the 26 of June, and the computer had I believe something like 3.35 and some German writing. I checked it out today when I got home and they have installed 3.61 and is dated the 27 June 2004. I had a problem with my wipers coming on every once in a while and the service manager also stated that there was a glitch in the rain sensor module and with re-flashing it makes it more sensitive. I'm not sure what else it has corrected but time will tell.
Don't let your dealer give you the gears, demand this upgrade be done when you have your service and it might be an idea to have it done the same time as the two recalls if your car is one of them.

They do not access a website for the flash, they use the most recent UPDATE disc for the Starscan, which has the most recent flashes for 05 vehicle supported by Starscan.

I should have said the UPDATE was the 27 July 2004, not 27 June 2004. Sorry!!!!

Just so I understand this perfectly clear before I go INTO my dealer tomorrow and tell him how they must not of updated my car because of the date appearing in EVOC. Now that yours was reflashed it now say July where it used to say an earlier date?

Yes it used to say an earlier date. My car was built the 24th of May and I picked it up on the 26 of June, now my EVIC says the 27 July for the version.

Thanks, There going to be words at the dealer tomorrow. Trying to buffalo me in Rochester! They don't know we can read this stuff off EVIC. There are going to be in for a surprise. I'll keep you posted. I'm sure I'm going to hear a good story tomorrow. They said it was done. I then confronted them about the date. They then asked why I wanted it done. I told them they should be more concerned about there employee who stated it was done. Not only to me but Chrysler on the service ORDER basically ripping off the both of us. With that they brought the car in and the upodate was done and my dash now reads the new date.
