View Full Version : Electric door lock - It Farts
LOL. Recently when I lock the drivers door electronically, it makes a very funny farting noise.
It does function correctly, but makes this funny noise.
It is very amusing to my daughter LOL.
Anyone know what is causing this ??

i'm not sure about these lock actuators, but in the past cars I have owned the actuators have a rubber boot on the top to water/weather seal them.
sounds to me like one of your actuators has a hole in the boot and when the lock mechanism goes up and down it is expelling air like a whoopie cushion..

Does your daughter have a fake fart machine, because the frequency of the machine and key may be same, because our keys for our cars set off the old doorbell we had, we had to get a new doorbell, because everytime i came home from work at 2 in the morning, the doorbell went off...i wish we still had it to post a video, but it was a fun joke.
Do you mean this one:

Actually she does have one of these . . . . but I am certain that this is not the cause. The FART sounds different . . . . more like a plastic ball being dragged on a rubber sheet. LOL. It is quite funny.

Does your car say "pull my gear shift handle" when it farts?
Since I have de-activated the horn-alert for locking and setting the alarm, this FART noise actually makes me feel somewhat comfortable (as I walk away from my parked car and lock it.)

If you had looked closely on the window sticker of your car, you would have seen option XXX, which is the power window farting actuator option.
It's included in the option II package, for no extra charge. Now if you had
purchased a car with the option III package, that included the automatic
headlights with diarrhea upon activation. ;)

Sounds like a bad door latch. The lock actuator is intergral to the latch, and over time and usage the actuator strips out and makes that funny fart or buzzing noise.

It is the aculators the same happened on my durango. Do a search maybe on dodgetalk I remember some one having a tutorial on how to clean and fix them I think. This was a while ago but I know its out there. Or warranty it , either way thats what it is.
