I've got a set of nearly new (7 total runs) BFG 275/40/18 drag radials mounted and balanced on 18" Borbet wheels that I'll sell to you for a good price. The package new was about $850. I'd let them go for $400.

Seriously, don't even waste your time with Nitto's unless you plan on doing a lot of street driving with them on. If you are looking for max hookage at the track go with MT or M&H's.

These would be strictly for track use.
And getting to the track.(about 10 min away).
So it's MT or M&H then.
What price range am I looking at?
What is the difference between 17 and 18"?(other than size :) )
Thanks.

Around $190-200 a piece
The 17 lets you have the same hieght tire with more sidewall which helps hook up better

for a 5.7 go with the MT since they make them in a 26" tire.

What 17" wheels are people using with the CORRECT bolt pattern?
(that will clear the SRT-8 calipers?)

You can get Centerlines in the 5x115........The 114.3 as far as I am concerned when used only for drag racing won't hurt anything,as long as it's hubcentric.

Can someone post a direct link to a specific wheel or two that will be a direct fit for my 5.7.
I seem to be a little dumb when it comes to wheel sizes , bolt patterns and all the rest of the numbers.
Dumb it down for me please......

Here is a link to the Borbet wheels in 17 inch but you will have to call for the bolt pattern cause they don't list it anymore
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand
And here is a link to the that I have Centerlines

Go W/the Mickey Thompson 275/40R 17.
They will help your effective FDR.
The 17" X 9" Cobra wheels are about 1/2 of what the centerlines will run you, but the centerlines are probably lighter & they look better IMO.
I don't know if thy are 5 X 115, but as stated, for drag strip use a 5 X 4 1/2 will work fine if they are "lugcentric" (conical seat lugnuts) & you are careful when you tighten them down.

The Cobra wheels are about a third of the Centerlines and 402 Motoring has a wheel/tire package for under $700.

Are there any tire combos that will help at the track but also able to be driven on the street? I've got a 27 mile trip, each way, to get to the track.

The 28" M&H 275/50R 17 or 325/45R 17 drag radials are excellent on the street even out doing the OEM Michelins on wet pavement.
The only problem W/drag radials driven on the street is increased (over OEM) tread wear & the fact that the soft compounds will pick up every little thing & are therefor prone to flat tires.
Driving 27 miles to the track should not be a problem, just keep an eye out for road hazards that might be potential flat tires.

So far the Nitto 555R 305-45-18s are working fine for me.
I think in the longrun a lighter, smaller wheel is desired.
What specific model Centerline wheel or Weld Racing Wheel are people using? Why don't they list weight in their specs?

Thanks for the info. How long do DR usually last? For example if I'm driving 60 miles each track day am I only going to get 4-5 tips out of them?

We need a vendor to put together a group buy package featuring Mickey Thompson Street radials and 17" centerline rims @ 25LB each.
That seems to be the best combination.
I see packages go for $700 to $800 now.Seen complete Nitto package go for $675 with shipping.
Any Vendors out there listening ???
I propose a final count and ship time of February 15 in time for start of a new racing season .
I guess I should start a new Thread?
Any initial interest here?

I doubt that your 60 mile round trips to & from the track will contribute to wearing out the DRS.
What I ment by increased wear over OEM tires was that you will not get 30,000 miles out of them.
The M&Hs wear very well & after dozens of passes, mine still have plenty of life left in them.
Just be watchful of picking up objects on the street. Inspect the DRs every time you take them off for foriegn objects. That will prevent something from working it's way through the tire & requiring a repair.

These 275/35/18 BFG's on 5-115 Borbets are still available. They've got 6-7 runs on them and I'll ship them free via UPS Ground to the lower 48. $400 out the door.

I consider them for track use only. I had to go to wider/taller DR's due to relatively high rwhp & torque (565/675). I personally think the $400 delivered price is a helluva bargain.

Those wheels are nice! would look good on a 300c srt8 at the track. If thats a half dozen runs on the bfg's I'm wishing I ordered the mickeys instead

The BFGs don't wear very well.
As was previously posted, Mickey Thompsons or M&Hs seem to be thew best fro both wear & hook.
Mickey Thompsons if you want small diameter (27" or 25.7") or the 28" M&Hs if you want (near) full diameter.

As far as wear on the BFG's, I have an older set that have maybe 50 runs & burnouts on them and they look about the same as my newer ones. Niether set are worn out and I'd bet the new ones have at least 100 runs left in them. Like I say, I ran BFG's for a year and they still have prominent tread.

Those getting DRs, I would highly recommend getting a line lock installed as well, so you can properly heat up the DRs without ruining the rear brakes or having all of the extra stress on the drivetrain.

So the Centerlines will fit the SRT Brembos for sure? I called and talked to Lou but he said they wouldn't fit. I don't want to shell out that much money for something I can't return if it doesn't fit..LOL

The Hurst roll control is the unit to get IMHO.
