I have a '06 300C SRT8 and liked the look of the new '08 all leather wrapped dark slate shift knob with dark stiching so I ordered one.

My old shift knob unscrewed counter clockwise with ease. I noticed that the new shift knob does not have any threads. I was able to slip the new knob on put it moves and is not secure.

Any ideas on how to make this work or has anybody else had this issue?

Why did Chysler change the knobs on the new cars? Wouldn't most after market knobs be the threaded type?

Thanks.

Its called cost reduction. They got it for $0.02 cheaper and went with it. Didn't matter they had 5,000 sitting on the shelf, haha.....

Any chance of buying a heli-coil kit which will alow you to tap it and screw in an insert??

I wonder if you can, or are willing to try and put a bunch of hot glue in it and put it on while hot and make your own threads? excess glue should clean up good
