I got replies back FROM both companies by email. I mailed them just asking basic stuff like release date and such here's the replies

Volant:

We currently have a test vehicle in the back and we are designing the intake for it as im typing this. I cant tell you what we are expecting to see as far as hp or torque but it will be an enclosed box and we may offer a scoop for it as well. Also it should be available in a month we are pushing to get this kit out due to high demand.

Vararam:

Cory, the unit is almost finished now and has only 2k left on testing.
The unit is a VR Cross-Ram King Cobra.
Price is TBA, but you will see this part in Dec.
Which forum did you here this on?

I talked with the folks at VaraRam late last week and they said that they have done "group buys" in the past and are open to the idea!

People, I could have cried today when I saw my RT at Volant! It is absolutely SWEET! 8) 8) :D  8)

I wanted to go out and smoke a ciggarette after that orgasmic experience!

The new hood is freaking awesome, real functional ram air folks! Linked to the air intake box! I almost cried, all teary eyed. I swear if the owner of Volant had not moved away I would have given him a wet sloppy full mouth and tongue kiss! :D :D :D :D :D

Damn folks. It is SWEET! Unfortunately I was not alloed to take a picture or give too much detail, but it is an enhanced version of the SHOW car FROM SEMA.

See that below:

Mine will not have the stripe of course! And mine will be functional!

Thanks to whomever posted that Volant was looking for a guinea pig! I think it was you DarkRT! Thanks.

Yo, Red, I think the Blue Pills he is talking about make things NOT mellow in another area of your body if you know what I mean, they start with the letter "V"

Just called Vararam and all they would tell me is it won't be available before x-mas. Hopefully by the end of the month... Their kit won't look as good as a ram air intake in the hood but I bet its just as effective, and cost alot less...

Well this is sort of an old thread, but any updates on the install / pics of hood?

Hmmm...i was just about to contact them for an update...sounds like good news. I can't afford a new hood so the Vararam is pretty intriguing to me. I'll wait to see what they both come up with though.

Yeah what's the hold up on getting pics of the Volant stuff Cucamonga.....the people demand to be satiated

Damn those sneaky bastards.

*shakes fist at volant and vararam*

I guess it's good though that they're taking the time to hopefully make the systems as good as they can be.

I talked to the guy at Vararam for quite a while and he gave me some good info. He's supposed to be writing me a write up about their kit to post with dyno numbers! I can tell you that they have run their kit on the dyno numerous times and the lowest numbers they've seen are still over 20hp. He says they pulled a 5.7 out of a junker and dissassembled it so they could better understand how the air flows through the engine to see how they could improve the intake.

They are thinking that they will sell two kits, one with just a new air box and the other will be the air box and a new "plenum" I think he called it... the hose that runs FROM the box to the engine. The box is a King Cobra so it has a line running to behind the grille and it uses the factory air source. They hope to be boxing them by the day after christmas and have them for sell the second or third week of January. He estimated that the price would be 200-300 but that has not been set for sure yet.

He also said they have a SRT-8 on ORDER so expect a kit for it as well!

What about the Ram air attachement for Cold Ram Air intake? Will that come with the kit?

Yeah, all the King Cobra kits have the ram air line that runs behind the grille.

Of course my loyalties switch each time i hear a new piece of information so i'm not too hard to please :)

Can't wait till i get to make a decision based on final products....learning about all this stuff is fun for a guy who has never modded his cars in the past.

VaraRam, Volant, I'll take the one that has the most direct Ram air intake system.

joseph

VaraRam: How about coming up with a Ram intake similar to RAISS with AF2 deflector?
After all, the intake on the 95SS was located the same as the Magnums, all they did was relocated the MAF sensor.
