Even though I own a Dodge Magnum RT they're the same car so now I going to be just totally unbearable to live with.

Me too. Folks at work have left copies of today's paper on my desk showing me the article on the front page of Richmond's Business Section. Like I didn't know it already! :lol: COY or not, this car gets so much attention. I can only see more attention after today papers across the nation inform everyone else. :D

Is it really a suprise?

Magazine accolades don't mean too much, IMO, especially COTY awards when they are always given out to the car that is brand new or substantially different than what is in the market already.

I'll be much more impressed if the car achieves high marks in JD Power's Initial and Long Term Quality reports, which I hope it does.

Kudos nonetheless.

Well, I look at it this way. I choose the RT over the 300c so I figure the Magnum is the BETTER... BEST CAR OF THE YEAR,

Every one I have bought has been a fine and reliable automobile. I find the pick is a good indicator of a quality and fun to drive automobile.

Of course, the Mustang II was the Motor Trend Car of the Year for 1974.

Maybe that slogan - Mustang II, Boredom Zero was right.

You have to compare apples to apples. Assume you do not have access to any car built prior to 75 or after 95. Are you telling me that there isn't a car that is either 1) stock and that can run with anything else FROM that time or 2)can be modified to hell and back? Also, you made your statement either really quickly or are ignorant about when certain car models went INTO production:

In no particular order:

78 Lil' Red Express
76 Trans Am (last year the 455 was an option)
77-79 Trans Am (all good car guys like the first Smokey and the Bandit)
86-93 Mustang
90-95 ZR-1
84-87 Turbo Regals/Grand Nationals
91-95 Viper
92-95 Impala SS

And when you get INTO modifying, there are countless models of 318, 360, 302, 351, and 350 that can put out more power than you will ever need.

Let me clarify a little. I do not believe that whether or not a particlular is fast or can be made faster does not make that a "good" car in the context of all of the attributes that a "good" car should have.

I am familiar with most of the models listed as I was selling cars at that time and sold/drove most of them. Looking back 20 to 30 years and comparing the cars of today to those years, todays cars are musch better.

At that time, most all of those cars were better than the cars of 20 years prior.

Notwithstanding the "noslatgia effect", "the good old days" were not that good, they were terrible compared to todays cars.
