Guys,
I have hotchkis sways and a strut tower bar. I'm looking to upgrade my spring and shocks with either kw or tein coil-overs. However, I want it no lower than .5 versus stock. Will this have any performance benefits over my current setup?
Also which are a better system kw variant 2 or tein with edfc? I've heard squeeking issues with tein but have never heard bad about kw with any car let alone the lx.
PS- Is it possible to use the hotchkis springs on a srt8?
The Hotchkis springs will lower your car more than you want to go.
I've ran against the KW's on the track. The SRT stuff doesn't give up a damn thing there. But on the street, the adjustability is worth the price of admission for either the KW or the Tein.
No, you can't run the hotchis springs with the Nivomat rear shocks. They will work fine with the front Bilsteins..

Just a question Cam, how do know he has Nivomat rear shocks? Is this standard OEM shock for the srt's.

Yes they are.

What Cam says. I have the V2's and the adjustability is great. I don't think the Tein have been out enough for anyone to be able to compare the KW's to them. In other words, there is no one that has seriously put *both* thru their paces to be able to say one is better, or they are the same.
The servos on the Teins sure are sexy but the V2's are a proven, known performer.
And for about $1200 less you could lower the car 1/2" and get 90% of the performance with an SRT take-off suspension. Just a thought.

The KW V2 set up has worked out very well on my Magnum R/T.
The ride is a bit harsh with my settings but you get used to it, the cornering is unreal.
If I tried to corner a Magnum with stock suspension now, it would not be pretty.

I really don't care about the adjustability just pure performance. Thanks for the info. :thumbs_u:

Thanks for answering my question. I have a srt8 and if the kw will only give me a 10% increase in performance I will pass on it.

Just something else to note coming from the product websites. This was somewhat of a factor in my decision to go w/ the tein. There's a fairly susbstantial difference in spring rates between the two products. According to each company's website the spring rates for a V8 magnum setup:
Brand Front Rear
Tein 671 783
KW 500 855
I like that the tein rates are more similar front to rear, but also stiffer in the front for less dipping of the nose in hard cornering. I don't claim to be a suspension expert, so if someone wants to chime in on why the KW numbers would be better please feel free. I could see where a softer spring rate on the front might make the ride smoother, but again at the expense of body roll and more nose movement. KW's rear might be better for those who regularly haul substantial cargo perhaps, but would seem to give a harsh ride coming from the back of the car.
You can also see on the websites that the lowering ranges are similar, with the tein giving you a greater max drop than the KW, by 1.3 in in the front and .2 in in the rear.
