Okay guys, this may be old news, but.... I just got off the phone to Glendora Dodge performance parts center in LA (626-335-0261) and they SHOW on their computer the official MOPAR cat-back exhaust for Magnum Hemi - part number p4510855 $808, on backorder...

No CAI on their list yet....

It is the exact same system at the Borla just with Mopar stamped on it instead. You can get the borla system alot cheaper.

When I first looked at this thread, I thought to myself:

"I'd still buy the Mopar version. I figure it's worth an extra couple hundred to keep the exhaust system covered by Dodge."

But then I read the warranty - there's a sentance in there that makes me worry:

Performance or racing parts are considered to be non-DaimlerChrysler parts.

I'm pasting in the relevent sections of the warranty at the bottom of this post. What do you guys think?

3. What's Not Covered
3.1 Modifications Not Covered
A. Some Modifications Don’t Void the Warranties But Aren’t Covered
Certain changes that you might make to your vehicle do not, by themselves, void the warranties described in this booklet. Examples of some of these changes are:
• installing non-DaimlerChrysler Motors Company LLC ("DaimlerChrysler") parts, components, or equipment (such as a non-DaimlerChrysler radio or speed control); and
• using special non-DaimlerChrysler materials or additives.
But your warranties don’t cover any part that DaimlerChrysler didn’t supply or is not certified for use on your vehicle. Nor do they cover the costs of any repairs or adjustments that might be caused or needed because of the installation or use of non-DaimlerChrysler parts, components, equipment, materials, or additives. Performance or racing parts are considered to be non-DaimlerChrysler parts. Repairs or adjustments caused by their use are not covered under your warranties.
Examples of the types of alterations not covered are:
• installing accessories — except for genuine DaimlerChrysler / MOPAR accessories installed by an authorized Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer;
• applying rustproofing or other protection products; or
• using any refrigerant that DaimlerChrysler or DaimlerChrysler Corporation has not approved.
B. Modifications That WILL Void Your Warranties
These actions will void your warranties:
• disconnecting, tampering with, or altering the odometer will void your warranties, unless your repairing technician follows the legal requirements for repairing or replacing odometers; or
• attaching any device that disconnects the odometer will also void your warranties.

3.8 Other Exclusions
Your warranties don’t cover the costs of repairing damage or conditions caused by any of the following:
• fire or accident;
• abuse or negligence;
• misuse — for example, driving over curbs or overloading;
• tampering with the emission systems, or with a part that could affect the emission systems;
• use of used parts, even if they were originally supplied by DaimlerChrysler (however, authorized DaimlerChrysler or MOPAR remanufactured parts are covered);

What if I put a Magnaflow catback system and 2 weeks later the tranny dies or the seal blows, will they (Dodge) say that my exhaust system caused the failure and refuse to service the car?

Only if they can prove that the new exhaust is directly responsible for the damage.

yeah what Jim said. The law states (i think it's the Moss Magnussen Act) that for a dealer to refuse warranty service due to aftermarket parts they have to be able to prove that the new part was responsible for the problem

They'd have a hell of a time proving that a cat-back was responsible for any damage to the powertrain...or really anything at all.

Not for nothing, but the guys at MPSC, who are on the offical vendors page on this very site, offer this system for $721.

I'm just sayin, because it's cheaper, and also Jeff sent me a free pen with my last ORDER :D .

Yeah, but on my 2004 KIA, I asked the service dept. rep. if I could put a high flow muffler, and they said if I did anything, it would void the warranty.

Hmmm... legally they can't just randomly void your warranty because you put on an aftermarket accessory BUT if the warranty documents that you signed at closing specifically says modifying the exhaust will void your warranty then they might can do it. They have to have that in writing some where for it to hold up in court, either way if they voided my warranty because I worked on the exhaust I would consult an attorney because its most likely BS.

I guess we have to read the fine prints before signing anything.
