No! I do not know whose car this is......

Watch the speedo climb. I heard that he was on a slight incline otherwise it would have been faster. "He" said that he would have kept on going but traffic was coming up.

heh, on my first test drive I accelerated FROM 5mph to 80mph after a right turn onto a four-lane street... went under an overpass and who was coming the other way? Dearborn police. lucky for me he either didn't see me or didn't care. :D

Magnum Freak;

Very nice sound. The Hemi sounds like its just starting to breath when the computer shuts it down. I can only imagine how much trouble I will get INTO if we ever figure out how to defeat the speed limiter. I haven't had mine that fast, yet. I am still waiting for the right oppurtunity.

I don't think "that guy" hit the speed limiter at 118, did he? "Someone I know" owns an RT that hits 127 before the throttle backs off.

Has anyone changed their tires and been to a dealer to disable that danged limiter?

Oh, yea, I remeber seeing one of those speedos in person just over 120 and lots of pedal left, the guy kinda backed down after realizing the speed LIMIT is actually 65!!
That RT got 120+ really quickly FROM about 50mph. Still trying to remeber who that was!

I checked with "him" and the computer did not shut it down. His exit was coming up and there was a bunch of traffic. He has tested the speed limiter and it does stop the car FROM accelerating but it does not shut it down. Kicks in right at 128.

128??? I could have sworn it was 130, or at least that is what I was told by my "friend"

yup 128 due to H rated tires. 128 mph is the max safe speed for the tires.

i read in a previous post that you can change the tire settings in the computer... so hypothetically... if you change the computer and tell it the car has y rated tires, would the computer let you go over the 128 limit, even if you have the conti's?

the computer would let ya but the dealership will only change it per your tire's rating.

oooh, i see, so the reason the car doesn't let you go over that speed is the rating on the tires. i was completely wrong in what i've been guessing... so is that what a governor is on all cars, it limits the speed based on the tires? (please forgive my newbiness)

no, not on all cars...
This is the case with ours though.
It's set at 128 based of the factory 18s.
Mine is supposed to be reset to top at 149 next week.
At least thats what my tires are rated at.

Dunno why I need to do 149.
I guess cuz I did 128 for the first time and wanted more.
Actually felt deprived.
weird huh?

haha, wow, i can't even imagine what that must be like. i took my magnum to 105 before i slowed down (105 in a 55...) and that felt awesome and it definitely had a lot more in it. Personally i keep getting in trouble with the law so i don't think i'll do too many mods to my magnum. Ironically it's my dad's Jetta GLI i keep getting tickets in. But i'm happy with the base and 128 is more than enough for me. But it makes me happy to see what the full potential of this beast is

The fastest I hit has been 120 mph, did it on a fairly quiet stretch of I-77 in rural South Carolina (only a car on my bumper and none in front of me) I was cruising at about 78, when a car came up on my rear for a few miles. I came to a wide open spot and said "What the Hell" . Seemed like lit only took a few seconds to get to 120 and catch up to the traffic in front of me. I've also hit 115 one time getting on the freeway with a 300 C chasing me ( I just happend to be taking a test drive after installing my Airaid system)
