View Full Version : 3.5 Dress up?

rwalshphoto

Has anyone done any or seen any dress up on the 3.5? I have yet to see any forum posts regarding this subject. I was wondering how hard it would be to polish the valve covers or the manifold.

I'd look around for some stuff. I've seen pics where people are just either painting the underneath and tops or powder coating. You could probably go to some auto stores or stylin concepts; summit racing; or some billets stuff on line and find stuff or even have stuff made for you.

Good luck.

Some people have done some really cool stuff with sanding the plastic parts smooth and then painting. New wire loom and/or hose covers make a night-and-day difference too. Some of the billet tech stuff probably carries over too (dipstick, PS fluid, washer fluid, etc).

Yo...There is hope...was bored at work looking on ebay and found this...http://stores.ebay.com/Corvette-chrome-and-stainless and run a search for dodge in the search box...he has alot of chrome for the motor...but read the detail...the pics are of R/T powerplants but he list that he makes the parts for V6 models...he has chrome inner fender, Ratiator, and hood panels. Check it out...

Yeah, I was really hoping to do some carbon fiber stuff and polish some of the stock pieces. I dont have much money to sink into mods yet and I am not a huge fan of the billet look. I am deffinetly going to braided wire/hose covers. My Mag is silver, not to sure how good it would look to paint stuff silver. Not sure if I would be able to polish the valve covers without removing them or not. Has anyone removed the valve covers or know if its a big job?

Those are all made by American Car Craft out of Florida. Check with our vendors, I know at least some of them carry those parts.

Carbon fiber...it cost play...i hate it...i most of my last car (95 silvia) was carbon fiber...(hood,doors,trunk,sunroof,fenders, and body kit)...and my car rolled out the drive way one day and hit a tree...there were about a million pieces laying on the ground...i dont think its worth the hype...all look and cost a lot...i say, just be creative...dont be afraid to explore...

I have been looking at all the vendors here and over at custommagnums and everything is for the Hemi (including American Car Craft). I have checked Summit and several other places and havent found anything for the V6s.

All the Stainless parts ie radiator cover fire wall and fender covers will fit the 3.5L. Get those with a G35 cover like this and you will be set.

fender covers **should** work, not positive about the side w/ the airbox. Header panel cover will work, hood panels will work, firewall cover may or may not work. Look at intakes too, Rev Hammer's V6 intake is a beast!

Yeah Rev Hammers intake is the next on my list. Last weekend I put the Blastin Bob duals on. I may try using a Die Grinder with a buffing wheel and compound to try polishing the valve covers. Has anyone tried this?

Bolt caps
Mr Gasket and Spector makes a few parts that fit. Just go to pep-boys and take in the OEM part like a radiator cap and compare it to the billet part you want.

I showed my wife your wife's car. It's a nice looking car. She did the same things that I want to do to my car, but with silver on black on the interior, Charger on the head rests, black rally stripes across the top, and black and silver in the engine bay.

Looks good.

Looks great. Here's mine. I only put it on for meets/shows though. Worried about holding in too much heat. It's the Infiniti G35 cover with bracket kit from NC-SXT (one of our members). Silver paint matches my strut caps, V-6 logo was already red, so I just masked it off when I painted the silver area. Dodge emblem is for a 2007 Dodge Caliber. Looks even better in person.

The reason I am worried is because I have the three piece stainless steel fitted to the inside of the hood and don't want anything rubbing and marking it. Does anybody know high these are? I think I couldn't go much higher than the radiator cap. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi ToddStone, yep I definately have a 300c. Over here in Australia the srt8, 5.7, and the 3.5 are all called 300c, and of course we pay through the nose for them.
The 3.5 comes with everything that opens and closes and accessories everywhere but so we should paying $62000 on road for them ( bloody government taxes and duty )
Same with our parts and accessories we pay 2-3 times what you pay in the USA, that' why I get a lot of stuff from over there.
Anyway, I have just bought one from over there, just have to wait till it gets here.

G'day mate, yes we have the 6.1L V8 srt over here. When I bought my 3.5L new in 2007 part of the reason I didn't get the 6.1L was that it was a bit rich for me at $84000.
