SRT suspension upgrade ?
I've got an SRT setup I'm going to install on my SXT. The SRT struts did not come with the white bumpstops. My questions are:
1) are there bumpstops on my SXT shocks? YES
2) if there are, can these bumpstops be used on the SRT shocks? YES
3) is trimming the bumpstops needed? NO
Thanks!
EDIT: Answered my own questions

Bump.
Getting ready to do this & want to be sure I have everything. What I have on hand is in the pic. If you've done this let me know if it looks like everything needed is in the pic. Thanks!

I would remove your dust covers on the rear shocks and see if the bumpstops are there for the rear just to make sure they were not removed.
The front will have bumpstops and you should never trim them as they reduce the effectiveness of them. The bumpstops are designed to collapse and if you trim them you will take that ability away and create a possilbe situation where damage could result.

Got the full (including sways) SRT suspension put on. That along with the new 245/55/18 BFGs. She now rides like shes on rails. Its a tad more firm, but the stock suspension was shot after 100k miles of use as my company car, so now it handles like a new (and different) car. She really sticks in the corners now & no more back end roll. All in all, a great mod! Pics are from my cramped garage, no wide angles yet.

thinking of doing this but worried that the front end will actually rise instead of lower. the rear should lower approx. 1/2" but i'm thinking the front will rise because of the weight difference betwee a cast iron V8 and an aluminum V6. has anyone noticed ride height issues since doing this swap? how much has the ride height changed front and rear.
thanks

I just did this swap and I gotta tell that the ride height dropped right around 0.5 to 0.7 inches, the rear drop is more. The biggest gains are in handling, the car is on rails for sure. I didnt really do this mod to get a drop per se. Just wanted a cheaper upgrade then coilovers. Overall, its awesome.

It's settled quite a bit more now.
I love this set up.
The ride is nice and crisp.
Turns are so much more fun.
Do it Fkny... you'll love it.

What kind of cost is this setup?
Is it something a novice can do in the driveway?

They both lowered on mine. Problem was the back dropped more than the front (V6 is lighter like you said). I was considering cutting half a coil off the front springs when I found a set of front Eibach Pro springs for $65. So, I got those on the front now. That leveled the front & back nicely. The ride height from the ground to the center of the fender well is 29" front & back. The same measurement when stock was 31". Hope this helps.

Don't think it's too difficult. Many have done it in their garage or driveway. The fronts aren't bad, the rears are a little more challenging because you have to drop the rear cradle. Check the Knowledge Base for the "lowering spring how to". The key is having the proper tools.
Had mine installed by a local shop for $250 I think, it's been a while. Installed lowering springs myself later on. This is probably more difficult since you have to deal with the springs (ie spring compressor). If your just swapping struts with the springs installed it should be a tad easier. Good luck!

soo will u need the spring compressor with the srt suspension upgrade??

If the springs are already installed on the front struts then no. If the springs are not installed then you'll need a compressor.

i want to switch my Magnum RT suspension with an SRT suspension as i find my RT a biy boring and also soft to drive.
Does anyone know exactly what I should do to my suspension to make it like the SRT?
Thanks

and shagmag rather than rent a spring compressor you can also have a spring shop band the spring for you and then you install and cut off the bands.
you just need to ensure they are seated right where you want them first.
good luck if you decide to try this mod.
it will be worth it in the end.

You only have to drop the cradle to install/replace the rear sway bar........otherwise all other suspension components can be installed without dropping the rear cradle......I still have to order the rear sway mounts and install the rear bar........
With proper tools (Please use a Torque Wrench....some haven't...) and being mechanically inclined, you can do this yourself in your driveway. It took me 8 hours to swap in a Daytona R/T Road & Track suspension......that was taking my time, lots of coffee breaks, and the final test drive.

I took my front struts to pep boys and they assembled them for $20 a strut.
I installed 300SRT set up on my Mag and the rear dropped more than the front, so i'm gonna pull the front off and cut half a coil off and have them reassembled. I talked to Cam about it and he's done it a few times, without problems. You can't cut more than half a coil though and only off the TOP of the coil, not the bottom.
It's not a bad install, I would recommend a second set of hands though. I took two days to do mine, but I was on my own for most of it, and I like to go slow and really make sure I'm doing everything the right way.
Random tools you'll need: torque wrench, and a pickle fork:

Take care not to damage the greased rubber bushings on the upper arms.

I agree, a helper makes things easier....
I used a gear/clutch puller instead of the pickle fork......works like a charm.....no risk of accidently hitting the fender........Just be warned that when the joint comes apart there is a VERY LOUD bang, that if you are not expecting it, could leave your shorts a little soiled.......

One of the drawbacks of suspensions upgrades.....new wheels/tire aren't usually far behind!!!!

Correct. I installed the rear sway at the same time as the SRT struts/springs for convenience sake.

Magnum SXT here suspension was shot by 50K. Not knowing what was wrong and having no luck with the dealer it did not get fixed till 74K.
I did a Pedders upgrade with the front bushings bump steer and alignment bushings. I then installed an SRT out of an 08 Charger. Everything was great the ride was so much better. It no longer felt like the front rotars were warped, the funny shimmy it had since 15K whenever I had the 20" on GONE. Felt much tighter and the funny squeaky noise was also gone.
The rear sat down nicely but the front was obviously higher. But then it has always looked that way to me. I had been leery of cutting the fronts down like I had heard done here.
But...... It had a new rattling noise. As well as a dull thumping sound over bumps. Talked to the installers and we decided that cutting was the way to go. So this weekend I pulled out the front struts and cut them down 1/2 a coil off the top. Time to do the first was about 3 hours time to do the second was less than 2 hours. I bought a spring compresser for about 40.00 that worked great.
Presto no more rattling sound and no more thumping. Not to mention it handles even better now.
