Hello Gang,
Here's an interesting question, how many other owners of either the 300 or Magnum are there on the boards? What color and options do you have? I am waiting for my Cool Vanilla base 300 with ESP and Light/Dark Slate Grey interior to be manufactured and delivered. Any concerns with the base car? Engine, Trans, etc? Also, did anyone on the boards install XM radio over the Sirius satellite radio? and if so, where did you put the cradle for the XM control unit? I have the Delphi SkyFi home kit and boombox and I was wondering could it be put INTO my 300? I look foreward to be hearing FROM the gang soon. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Its nice to see someone talking and excited about a 300 that's not the C model. I think its great. It seems that almost every topic related to the 300 focuses only on the C. 300C this and 300C that. Dont get me wrong, I love the C but that is not the model I am getting by choice. I was going to go with the Limited, and still might, but I am leaning towards the Touring. I test drove the base 300 and liked it as well. I haven't ruled out saving some money and getting the base. If I do it will be ordered in black, with the upgraded stereo system and the electronic stability program. I think all four 300 models are equally good in what they do and the price point they are targeted to. I will be ordering mine probably within the next month or so. I guess I need to decide between now and then which 300 I ultimately want. I would love to read more posts FROM owners with base, Touring, or Limited 300s but it seems as though its all about the Hemi.

my 200 trep is in for repairs and i rented a base 300. in canada they come with the 3.5l
engine and esp. i,m impressed with the acceleration and handling, but find the interior kind of cheesy.
i still stick with my oroginal opinions FROM test frives that i'll go for the magnum, although now, i think icould be happy with a sxt, as much as i love that hemi, the 3.5 will be just fine.

The 2.7 in the base 300 is the weak link with it, just do the recommended oil changes and you'll be fine.
As far as all the hype with the Hemi I can see why people get excited over it, but the 3.5 will fill the bill as far as performance goes in day-to-day use. People have been conditioned by marketing to think, in this case, that the Hemi is the only thing to get or you’re a loser for choosing other wise.
When I get mine it will be one with a 3.5 because I won't be dreaming of racing light to light but instead thinking of HAVING a really nice rear wheel drive car that looks cool.

Don't be so sure on not "racing" light to light. With the lower rear ratio (as compared to the "Hemi") and the reduced weight of the non-v8 models -- you will suprize most V8 powered cars.
Also, after driving both my 300T and a buddies 300C over the weekend, the highway "quickness" factor I put to the 3.5L V6 -- the Hemi just took a little longer to spool up and go (perhaps MDS, perhaps the rear ratios, could also be the extra 700lbs the hemi and the C package adds to the car.) But in my daily commute -- getting 24MPG; HAVING the power to pass on command, priceless.
Like you guys, I am I little put off by the 300C this, HEMI that -- when the significate portion of the market will be the 3.5L --- go figure.
I hope that the aftermarket will realize that the 3.5L V6 is a very sound and willing powerplant. My old 99 300M was making about 250HP to the front wheels with simple bolt ons... I would imagine that 250+HP to the rear wheels (300 at crank) on an LX is just as easy.
My wish list: [vendors take notice :) ]
Cat-back (perhaps a modified V8 version to DROP the tips below the bumper cover vs HAVING to cut -- resonance could be an issue )
Cold air intake -- I repeat -- COLD .. The V8 guys are even screaming for this one.
Programmer!! to help the next GROUP of mods...
Headers [high flow cats to match?]
Higher flow Intake manifold, mated to ported/polished heads, and matching throttle body.
Bigger fuel injectors
Turbo ;) someone on the net with a '00 300M turbo charged his car for >400HP -- he must have more disposable cash than me -- but it would be REALLY cool to see. darn, I gotta remember what site that was

There's a simple explanation as to why there are more posts here about the Hemi models. Most of the people who bought the C and RT vehicles are probablly concerned with performance. Most people who post on car message boards are often times INTO their car and usually the performance of it as well. So it's not hard to believe that a car enthusiast forum attracts alot of performance enthusiasts.
SStreet - you had 250HP at the wheels? On a 300M? There was/is a HUGE power loss in that FWD platform. And it started with 250HP, so you added 30% back on? If you did that magic, then use the EXACT ideas on your Touring. It is the same engine tturning the rear wheels through a much better transmission with less loss. You need to go over to DI.net and share your ideas. I'd have loved to hear FROM you when I had my Intrepid R/T.
