I posted this on another site, but thought I should CHECK here as well.
I have a noise coming FROM my 300C that only happens on full throttle runs. It has been doing this since I bought the car new in May. It still runs strong as hell, but the noise has me wondering if it is a potential problem.
When I floor the pedal either FROM a stop or a roll, I get this strange, fast, chirping sound that can be heard with either the windows up or down. It doesn't happen with part throttle, only full throttle. It does it warm/cold, doesn't matter.
It does not sound like detonation or knock. I remember a post on this subject here a few months ago, but I can't seem to find it now.
If anyone can help, or needs further info, please let me know. Everything else with the car is fine now, except for this.
Thanks! :)
Steve
OK, I just gotta say/ask this ........... chirping sound? Like tires chirping? With TC on, my tires won't "turn over" much, but there is a steady chirping until the shift to 2nd.

I think I have the same sound, but I didn't think it was the tires. I thought it was more of an engine sound. Maybe a lifter tick kind of thing. Only under full throttle. I haven't been able to pin it down.

I hear that same tick sound under full throttle mostly at high RPMs like 1st or 2nd gear, sounds like a sticky lifter or something... may its related to the MDS?

I have the same thing. I was gonna post the question too. Probably just what the exhaust sounds like with lots of air moving trough.

Whew, I was beginning to think I was the only one!
I posted this concern at 300cforums and someone posted about laying down the rear
seats and see if it gets louder. Well I did, and it did get louder. It appears to be the exhaust system. Noisy bugger!

Sounds as if the exhaust pipes themselves have some integrity problems. Back in 1970 with then mostly new OLDS 442, I had a similar problem. However it quickly escalated to a significant drop in power. The bottom line was that the inner works of the pipes had collapsed due to the crimp bending ( mandrel bending wasn't an option). Had to replace pipes and install auto cutouts. Could very well be the configuration of the suitcase package. I will surely be on thje watch for it and as I initially thought will be replacing the suitcase with 18" magna-flos.

Actually I thought it was the Aeroturbine exhaust I installed. I never heard the sound before the install. My Magnum makes a metallic FLUTTERING sound under WOT. Am I talking about the same noise here?

Yes, I have a fluttering noise under WOT throttle too. Only in the upper RPM ranges. I just attributed it to the fuel injectors.

That sucks. Our cars under WOT sounds like a piece of metal is loose in it!
