I posted this yesterday but I don't know what happened to the post.

I recently bought a Nokia 6820 for use with the UConnect.

My "issue" appears that my battery and signal level are not being displayed
on my EVIC or on my NAV Head unit.

I have a software version FROM February and I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I have an appointment on Monday to have my software upgraded for that SAT.

THe V710 has the same issue but a software fix is another month away FROM what I read in this thread yesterday.

(BTW it appears as though there was a database glitch that some of the threads got lost yesterday).

Just a note: there is a rumor floating around, I don't know how true it is, but the rumor is that part of that UPDATE to the V710 will be to encrypt DATA stored to the transflash card, so if you take a picture with your phone and copy it to the transflash card to put it in your PC. You won't be able to. Also you won't be able to put wallpapers and ringtones FROM your PC to your transflash and then on to the phone. Verizon was upset that people were taking their pictures off the phone without paying Verizon $0.25 for each picture and downloading ring tones off the internet (or just using MP3's) and loading them on their phones without paying Verizon for them. So Verizon told Motorola to not enable the ODBX (I believe that's it) which would allow you to bluetooth your way INTO the file system of the phone and to encrypt the transflash.

Before upgrading to the new firmware, if communication between the PC and the phone is important to you (via the transflash) I would CHECK a phone that has the UPDATE first before you get your phone flashed.

Again, this is just the rumor floating around. Might be true or not, but I would be careful flashing your phone, until you find out that I'm full of hot air (which I hope that I am).

When the UPDATE is available do I just go INTO Verizon and ask it be done? Will they be able to do it on spot?

From what I was told by customer service, the upgrade should be free for all Verizon V710 owners, and will be handled by the retail outlets. How long it takes, or whether or not it's a walk-in thing, I don't know. Can't imagine a software upgrade would take all that long...

It should be a walk in thing. At my local store I just need to walk in and go to tech support and they will UPDATE the software for me in just a few minutes. Not sure about other stores.

When is it expected to arrive?
Sometime in November. Verizon says it's in test now...

Hey, I know there is someone on this forum with a Nokia 6820...Are your signal and battery indicators working?

I know the Nokia 6820 is listed in the Knowledge Base article (http://www.dodgemagnum.net/phpBB2/kb.php?mode=article&k=16), so you could try sending a private message to the forum member who claimed to have one.

That is kinda how I thought people would use that article... oh well, live and learn...
