How to Use LXForums Videos (Uploading new videos)

LXForums / ModernMoparMuscle now offers its own video hosting service very similar in function to YouTube. The service is provided by PowerTVOnline, a a media service dedicated to online automotive websites.

Registering for the LXForums Video Service

First you need to register for the service. Unfortunately, we could not port our user database into the video service, so you will need to register in order to upload videos (note, you can still watch user-uploaded videos without registering).

To register, simply slick the Register button and fill out the short form.

PLEASE USE YOUR FORUM USERNAME TO REGISTER FOR THE VIDEO SERVICE!!!!

Note: While we have our own channel on the PowerTVOnline network (the company that runs this media service for us). There may already be a user with your username on the network of 854-odd channels. If your username is already taken, please use your forum username + LXF or something similar so we know who you are. (ie, DMAG_LXF or something similar)


You will be required to click a registration link in an email that will be sent you just like when you signed up here at LXForums. Once you have confirmed your registration, you can start sharing videos!




Uploading a Video


To upload a video, click the UPLOAD link.

Enter a TITLE for your video, a description and a few keywords that other users can search by to make it easier to find your video.

Next select what CATEGORY your video should be under.

Click NEXT STEP

At this point, you may receive a pop-up indicating you need to install an Active X control. This is legitimate and not spy-ware or a virus. NOTE: You will only have to install this control the first time you use the video service.

Depending on if you use Firefox or Internet Explorer, the warning message may look like the following:

Firefox: Simply click Install

Click message at top of screen:

Then click Install Active X Control:

Now click Install on the pop-up box

Now its time to upload your video!

Either drag and drop your video file over to the right side of the screen or use the BROWSE button to navigate to the file on your computer.

Here is an example of using drag and drop:

Next click PUBLISH.

It may take several minutes to upload your file (depending on size and quality). Once it has completed uploading your video you will be forwarded to your homepage.

NOTE: Your video is now processing. It may take SEVERAL minutes before your video is viewable. This works very similar to YouTube where you can wait up to 15 minutes or so before your video is available to see by you or other members. Note: You do not have to wait for it to process, you can leave the site and the video will still process.

Once your video has finished processing, it will be available for viewing. The service will AUTOMATICALLY post a link to your video in the Spraycans, Crayons and Videotape (http://www.lxforums.com/board/forumdisplay.php?f=65) forum. You will also be sent an email letting you know it was uploaded and processed.
