to those who have the 3.5 and 20 inch rims. did you notice a huge mpg drop or loss of performance when you put 20s on? what about road noise and ride quality? i understand the ride will stiffin up a bit going from 17s to 20s.

i am looking at putting a set on a 300 touring i might buy for the wife next week. i know 22s look better but this is a daily driver for her and i want style and function at the same time. plus a little more sidewall for my wife when she drives next to curbs, lol......

i am looking at TIS 07s or something very similar, or a clean 5 spoke design.

yeah i got 20's and i do notice the difference because they are heavier wheels unlike the stock 17s. i dont hear any noise. but the ride quality to me feels the same

so pretty much all you loose is a little acceleration off of the line? any noticeable drop in mpg?

well i drive it like i stole it so i dont really keep track of my mpg. but it seems like it does. the more weight you put onto your car the less mpg

MPG is the same
Seat of the pants...seems slower than the 17"
The 20's handle 100X better than the stock crapyears...all I need is to take a corner to be reminded!

I had 22's on my SXT. Loved the look, hated the ride. I went to 20's and haven't looked back. The ride quality is not compromised that much over 17's, and the noise is less noticable than 22's. It handles great and I still get between 19-21 mpg.

20's here, maybe a bit slower off the line, good ride (don't skimp on the profile of the tire to make the overall diameter smaller than stock) maybe a little less mpg, dunno, didn't have the stocks on long enough to find out :)

thanks for the replies guys. gonna go with a 20x8.5 on all four corners with 255/45 series rubber.

is that highway or city?

if the car is slower from the dead start, it seems that MPG will obviously go down right?

anything that adds to rotating mass, or makes the car slower will surely lose some MPG naturally.

I noticed a difference in the ride and didn't like it at first but now i think it feels more responsive. I haven't noticed MPG Diff.

Currently have 22's on my magnum, like the look, not the feel. Looking at changing to 20's. What do ya think? Oh ya, it's also AWD.

20" TIS 07's here... I echo the above - pehaps a slight loss of power on launch, didn't notice any glaring MPG differences. The car is stickier in turns with the wider rubber, and ride quality is good when everything is properly inflated.

One of my big worries was bending a rim, as the roads around here can be pretty sh!tty... But never even came close. You really needn't adjust your driving style at all, in terms of babying the wheels.

I have 22's. I did notice the ride was different - you feel every little groove and bump on the road. Otherwise, no change in mpg or acceleration - at least not noticeable. Depends on your wheel/tire size combo.

FWIW - I did bend a rim - two of them in fact - but this was in an unusual situation. I drove through uncompleted, unmarked streetwork and they hit HARD.

Moi? Yeah...I got them fixed though and they look just as good. Picking up the second rim tomorrow. Gonna run me about $300 for both. I'm trying to see if I can get some $$ from the City.

There were a couple of members here who had their cars dyno'd before a 22" wheel swap and after the swap. They saw roughly a 17 HP lose and the lose of 15 ftlbs of torque with the larger wheels.

You will looe a little with 20" rims, but not as much with larger ones.

When I get new rims I won't be ging any larger then 20".........no sense in giving away power just for looks..............

Okay as a former owner of an SXT with the R/T wheels I will say that now that I drive a 300c SRT8 that those little highway groves are more noticable once you go to bigger rims and lower profile tires. So there are those good with the bad.

Have Incubus Overlords, 20" x 9"...I too hated the ride initially. Then...
- had front driver side rim replaced because of blemishes in chrome
- got screw in tire; tire repaired
- vibration after tire repair; found rim was "out of round/warped"...balanced it the best they could, less vibration
- replaced rim; waiting for orderd hub rings,
- got 4-wheel alignment @ dealer last Friday; tires were feathering along outside
edge
- installed hub rings Monday...vibration gone, ride & handling feels much
better!
- waiting for replacement front passenger rim; blemishes (no, I'm not using
anything on them!!!
I commend Discount Tire. No one lost their cool or patience. Good service all around!

with the lower profile tire you'll always have a crappier ride so i went with the 20's with allot of rubber 275/45/R20's ride is awesome a little slower of the line but much better handling. I don't race so i don't care about HP off the line but the handling increase in traffic has really been worth it and i can make up the HP loss in other areas.
