Bob Lutz, vice-chairman of General Motors, says he never would have approved the design of the Chrysler 300 and the Dodge Magnum had he still been working at Chrysler.
The famously honest Mr. Lutz, who is in charge of design development at GM, says he hated the look of the new Chrysler when he first saw it and would have killed the project had he been in charge of it -- and he would been wrong to do so.

"When you do a very far out, very bold design that's very much different FROM what's been done in the past, it can go badly wrong or it can go beautifully right," says Mr. Lutz.

"In this particular case, it's gone very right."

At least he is honest. Judging by what he is approving at GM he needs to just quit now.

The problems is, he will probably get some of the people DC relies on, over to GM. It has been done in the past. People leave areas that seem shakey and before the 300 - Magnum , Chrysler seemed shakey. HOPE they relalize they are in a solid job ( as solid as ANY job can be) and that they are needed HERE.

ANd I must add that Mr. Lutz is the reason for Chrysler's mediocre past. There is a saying that is so true:
Fortune favors the bold man.
Mr. Lutz was content to play it safe. This country needs something with vitality, not mediocrity. We do not want the same thing year after year. We want evolutionary and revolutionary leaps forwards. This world, this society, adapts to rapid change more quickly than ever before.
Most people that I know would rather fail whilst daring boldly than persistently wither quietly.
These cars are what we want and , moreover, what we need.
