Now that BFG has dropped the ball on the popular 255/55/18 KDW2 NT size I've been scrambeling to find an alternative and here's one possibility= Goodyear Eagle Response Edge. They get excellent ratings and a 440 treadwear rating. Hopefully the're better than the Comfortreads and price looks pretty good. Discount Tire, Tire Rack, shop around. My front BFG's look new 5,000 on the rears, half gone, yikes, gotta rotate before they evaporate!

Yep, I'm also saddened by BFG's decision....got 17,000 miles on my KDW 2's, rotate 'em every 5 to 6k. Still look almost new, still stick like glue and still great in the rain. I looked at the Response Edge on-line when I was shopping for tires about a year ago but they were so new there wasn't a single review of them anywhere and they were pricey compared to the BFG's. Discount Tire currently shows them for $183 each which is $50 apiece more than I paid for the BFG's.

Check out the Toyo Proxes S/T ... a great tire ... it's listed as an SUV / light truck tire, but it obviously can be used on cars too (especially 4000-4200 lb cars like ours)

Two weeks ago I put on NITTO 420s in this size, they have a very nice ride, and are quiet to boot. Can't beat the tread look. They cost $120 at Discount Tire, and are V rated.

Anyways thanks for the good suggestions guys. I'm thinking of putting 2 of the General UHP's on the back as the rear BFG's are starting to look like slicks, fronts look new. Hope they are compatible and Hal does'nt have a fit.

I did a google search for this size, and came up with this site...

http://www.customwheelsdirect.com/tires_search/?brandt_id=&tpricerange=all&tire_w=255&tire_h=55&tire_d=18&search=Refine+Search

There's some more choices there. I'm liking the Federal's, they look pretty nice.

I personally would like to find 255/50-18 next time. I like that "gear ratio" better. But not much on the market...
