So here it is :)
I just ordered a HALO kit from AAC and it should get here in a week or two. I know dewm1 took his headlights apart when he painted them. I'd like to know how do I bake them to soften that silicone (time, temperature etc.) and what would be a fairly safe way to do it. Any info would be greatly apreciated
Thanks,
Adrian.

p.s. I just got my NAV installed WOOT :pepper:

There were some problems with my paypal account... I sent the payment but apparently I have to wait until August 30 for it to go through... Than It'll probably be a week until I get the kit.

Adrian is silently yelling AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH, or not.

Give me a call when you get them in and I'll help you with what I learned about baking and re-assembly.

I thought these headlights are plastic-welded, not sealed with sillicone from the factory?

Plastic welded?, no I don't think so.
A type of "sealant" that gets "darn hard" when it cools, Yes.
Can silicone be used to seal them back up after?, Yes.

What, you're bringing your oven to help him do them at the M&G

The Calgary M&G on the 16th should be a big one I hope - see you there if the body shop ever gets my car done but that's another story as they've had it 2 1/2 weeks already.

Actually at the moment it's the worst paint job ever, dirt in the paint, fish eyes in the paint, they have compounded it twice already, now I,m wondering how thin the clear coat is.

They put the windshield in wrong, it had to be replaced for a second time.

I have a meeting with the insurance company in 20 minutes to look it over.

Met with the Insurance rep from Wawanessa this morning and went over the car. The first thing he said to me was the roof HAS to be repainted, after looking it over, they have to repaint everything they've painted. This means removing all the moldings again. There are fish eyes and dirt every where. This body shop was one of the best in the city but seeing it was sold I guess they don't care about a reputation. I had my van booked in there until this happened, now it's going to one recommended by the dealer.

Now we're in a time crunch as it has to be ready by Sept.13, as I need to detail it and get the interior really clean for the 16th and I'm being told this may be a problem. If it is I guess the body shop is going to have to try and find a Hemi powered Magnum for me to rent as I refuse to take a V-6 powered one. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

On a plus side - after they have replaced the windshield twice they have it in the right place now, I'll have to try and straighten the upper mldg out as it's a little squiggily in a few spots.. I'm not sure how I'm going to like the really dark tinted band accross the top as the original one didn't have that.

Holy,,, well, good luck getting it done up properly.
See you on the 16th,, even if you don't have your own buggy, at least you'll be there.

And, you refuse to take a V6?,,,
