So where is everyone taking their cars to get washed? I didn't care where I took my last car, so I'd just run it through any car wash.
Any recommendations in the southern NH or north of Boston area?

Im not FROM the boston area, but my driveway is my preferred spot to wash any of my cars..in the winter i use any heated self serve wash bay, but bring my own wash mitt and supplies...i dont trust that soapy brush on the wall that the previous person used to scrub the mud and salt out of the wheel wells on their car. and automatic car washes never get my vehicles as clean as I feel they need to be. In a pinch, i will use the expensive full service places...but I caught one of the towel boys red handed once stealing my sunglasses.. so I try to avoid these places if at at all possible. I find hand washing any vehicle a relaxing hobby and not so much a chore...

I also used one of those full service places about 3 weeks ago and when I got my car, these guys had not wiped it down and still had dirt on the car as well as these jerks took my mats out and then sat in the car and got my carpets dirty. I was not a happy camper and the owner sure knew it when I was finished with him. I won't be going back and I don't think he wants me back.
We have a by-law here that if you are caught washing your car and the suds do down the road drains you can be fined quite a huge amount, so if I wash my car I do it on the week-end when the soap nazi's are not around and try not to use much soap.

Thanks guys. I agree that the best way is to wash it yourself. I just can't see me washing the beast by hand in the winter months here in the north east, and was concerned about the salt on the undercarriage.
I did find a place in Salem, NH that is touchless (uses multiple jets of water only). Maybe I'll CHECK that place out.

I have an RT, a Tbird and an Avalanche. I always wash them myself at all times. It used to be quite a chore. Since I now have the Mr. Clean car wash deal it is a piece of cake. I'm still amazed how it dries the cars. I can actually wash all three in the same time it used to take me to wash and dry one of them.

Guess you're better prepared than me. I have a car, but no Zaino brothers stuff.

I go there in the winter when the driveway is salty and whatnot. They have two here in Worcester (really great job on the car) if you're ever around here. What part of Southern NH are you in?

I don't know if they're still around, but when I used to live in Salem, NH, My dad and I always went to Haffner's in Methuen. It was just down the street FROM there the Methuen mall used to be. There was also one on Lowell St. just east of I-93.

Southeastern NH - just north of Haverhill, MA. Worcester would be a bit of a hike. And I'm not able to get to that url.

They are right down the street FROM me actually, but they're not touchless - unfortunately. I went to the one over in Salem, NH over the weekend and it does a fairly good job. No brushes or cloth. Just jets and a dryer. It is open 24 hrs, so I can wash the car on those 3am sleepless nights if I want to.
Right.

Try in Everett on the Revere Beach Parkway. Full service they will invert the mats so as to insure no grit is put on the mats. Also , they offer everything up to and including detailing.Myself,I would stick to one of the professional detail shops in the area, but the simonize service would be enough for a base so as you can attain a personal relationship with your own ride as you put some sweat equity into having pride in what you've achieved.

Nonono....Sonny's Rte 28 in Reading MA (I also believe there may be a few more around somewhere). Bring your AAA card for a discount. Nice machine wash of the exterior then you bring it around and an army of dudes go to work drying, polishing, doing the windows, etc the rest of the outside. Another group then does your entire interior, takes the mats out and cleans them on a machine and puts it all back together again. It's worth going but it can get VERY crowded so you might have to wait in line for a few minutes. It's fairly close to the rte 128/rte 28 interchange. They also do full detaling. I'm in Windham, NH and generally go to the carwash near the Derry police station at Tsiennito road and Crystal Ave (rte 28 ) or I do it myself. Nowhere as cool as Sonny's though.

Mr clean auto dry carwash is the best. I purchased one off of ebay (raped by shiping charges i might add), i love it. Next time i went to costco, i found the PRO SERIES!!! i bought that and 4 extra filters and soap.
Seriously, spot free shine, no need to hand dry. It is the best for black vehicles, i was my Magnum everytime with MR Clean.
Ernie's in Worcester is my first choise. The machine does a good job and they know how to use the buckets and brushes for the wheels and glass. I live in the next town, but my travels don't take me past it too much.
Near the office and also the in law's is a place called Primrose. It's one of those drive in automated jobs, and there is nothing touching the car at any time.
I don't use washes that touch anymore after a new car went though one and was instantly marred with swirl marks. I wish I had the time to commune with my vehicles in that manner, but it seems I never I have the time. Correction, I do have the time, but I chose to sleep. If my daughter lets me. *yawn*

Lord Chuckles thanks for the tip. Took the plunge on Mr Clean Pro at WallyWorld today for $32 and change. Bought extra soap and filters as well. Rinse, soap, mitt, rinse and filter rinse. Pretty quick and truly did not need to dry it. Spot free as advertised. Might get a little expensive though, my Magnum is big to wash. Ran out the whole sample soap bottle and had to refill to finish the job. $4 for the refill soap. Well at least it holds more than the little sample bottle it came with. Probably won't get 10 rinses out of the filtered water either though. Well, small price to pay, the results were very good. Although I'll be wearing a bathing suit and nothing else next time...lol Over-pressure spraying out the whole time around the hose connection to the unit gave me as good a bath as the car got.
