View Full Version : 10th annual mopar meet at Castrol Raceway
I seen this post on the Charger forum. The event is happening on the August long weekend. There are a couple of us already showing up, not sure if we can show our cars but hey there will be enough eye candy there anyhow.

:bump: I'm just throwing this back of there to be noticed. I have received 6 pm's regarding this event. If any of the members are interested in showing for the events on the long weekend we should make a Date/Time/Area to meet up there. I know there are a couple Chargerforum members showing on the Friday for the Drag Races and the again on the Saturday. I will be there for Friday night and Saturday as well. Check the link to the event and we can try to plan something. Here is a little better info right off the Castrol Raceway Site http://www.castrolraceway.com/schedule/id46.html
A couple of us just show up regularly on the Friday nights for the Street Legals, try out our cars and have a good time.

I'll be there friday for sure, I might even race although I just put alseason tires on because I dont think they will last the summer I thought I would get the cheaper ones so I dont know what my traction will be like LOL.
There are a couple other members showing as well Skeet, I have received a couple of PM's. For sure another SRT Charger, R/T Magnum x 2 and there are a couple others that are going to try to show. I'm not sure if i'm racing or not as well, these 22's are damn expensive but who knows I'm still curious as to how much I lost with the bigger wheels. O ya and these TOYO's really break loose easy, no where as good as the F1's.
This weather is CRAP !!! I was driving from the city out to the track in a monsoon, wipers just flyin. Then I get home and not even a drop, it didn't look like the track got hit bad if at all. Doesn't look to be shaping up much for the rest of the weekend till Monday/Tuesday.

You should have went to the track it was a blast, it got rained out for about an hour but then there was hardly anybody left there so we got a bunch of runs in and it was about 15 degrees so the car ran a bit better my best time was 13.62 at a little over 104mph and the only run I got in the 14s was when I used autostix.
Holy your times sure got better. Man is it ever pourin out here now.

Well I was at the meet from about 12:30-5:00 today. Wasn't to bad, lots of Mopar musclecars from Cuda's to Chargers Dusters. Some were really well done, some pretty amateur and a couple that were unrestored. One was kinda overpriced IMHO, it was a 68 Roadrunner that was full of bondo and had rust under the vinyl top that the guy wanted $27000 for. Supposedly original motor, but just a 383, I don't know I am up on the current muscle market but 10 years ago or less that car would have been more on the $2700 mark.
There was a class for late models, and there was as follows:
2 '07 Daytona's ( 1 Sublime, 1 Plum Crazy), another R/T ('06), and an Inferno Red SRT8 like my own(no window tint and painted splash guards. He also had a cool hood emblem that had the Ram's head and said SRT8, he replaced the HEMI badges with SRT8 badges). Otherwise there was a silver R/T running consistent 15.10's, the Sublime Daytona ran a 14.59 that I saw and that was it for LX's on the track. There was also 2 '07 SuperBee's sitting around and I saw one Magnum R/T and a Hemi 300C. Then of course there was my Inferno Red SRT8 hiding out by itself to wrap up the LX attendance.
Overall wasn't too bad, kinda boring when you hang out by yourself, but I am kinda used to that. Lots of opinionated older men who "know" everything, and hate the modern LX platform because it has 2 too many doors(I don't talk to these guys I just overhear stuff when looking at things). Thats Ok though, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. On a side note there was a Silver SRT4 running low 13's and then it blew up, scattered fluid on the track and was hauled out. Overall it was worth the $10.
Sorry man I couldn't make it today, I got so tied up at my shop. And on top of that I had to take the wife out I almost forgot our anniversary. I was planning on flying down to Airdrie next weekend and now that has been turfed, my shop is just jam packed and about 2 weeks behind.
That Magnum R/T you seen, by chance was it sportin some SRT wheels. If so thats Chuse2Muse, that car just got the new Franks Head and Cam swap on Friday. One of those 07 Superbees is from Leduc and I think the other is from Devon ( the guy works at Superstore ).
That SRT-4 is a regular at the track, he's done a pile of work to that car. Damn fast car, but when the internals are all stock and you boost the heck outta it, the days are just numbered on that motor. There is also a Copper SRT-4 that breaks the 13's as well, once again all boost.

Hey no apology needed, it was good either way. Yeah the SRT4 was funny, he seemed displeased, I might be mad if I grenaded my car on the track too. The Magnum had stock R/T rims, the silver Charger had aftermarket rims on it, was hanging out with a late Seventies Pontiac Lemans that had GTO badging on it. Didn't recognize any cars from any of the pics from the meets or guys Signatures so I figure probably no members were there.
Chuse2Muse had mentioned to me that Hot August Nights is next weekend in St. Albert. If I get some time I'm going to try and make it to that one. I know Chuse will be there, his wife likes that show. If I get time I will most likely cruise in with him, I have to stay near the city my damn phone is ringin off the hook.

Actually the Inferno SRT could have been ABChargers car, or one very similar to it.

Hi Ya'all, I was at the track yesterday as well, came late about 3:00 PM. Like Pickardville says there was a little bit of everyrhing there from Mopar, some were pretty nice but some still needed a lot of work. I agree with your opinion on the 27000.00 Road runner, but the red one was nice. Some of the line up of GTXs against the track fence with the 426 Hemis were cool, but all of them were automatics. there was a guy with a 426 Hemi in a Blue Challenger running in the King o the Hill on street tires but he couldn't hook up. I think his best was a 15.5, but it sounded like it was capable of much more. A chev truck running in the 12s ended up in the final against a Hemi cuda running 10s. Both ran a good race but the truck won on the better light. Forgot my camera at home or I would have taken some pictures:blam: I just never think of it until I'm half way there always:loser:

Hey STS I just finished convincing Marilyn that we should drive down to Airdrie for a change LOL, can't you work a little faster. :wtf:What's the big deal if some old lady has to shop with a wobbley wheel on her cart for one weekend? Give her a chance to practice the :chickdance: for the next wedding.:latchon:
Holy Crap Ray your up to 14 Mods on your list. So hows the head/Cam and headers swap feel now ?
I'm just shootin for the show in St. Albert for Saturday now, man I'm just way to busy to fly down south. I have to cover a shift on Saturday night as well, damn guy got football tickets again.

I guess we're kind of getting away from the topic of the thread here but the head & cam swap is working good, seems to really run strong from about 20 MPH and up, that 60 ft area seems a little slow still. Scared the s**t out of me the second day, it started running like crap, wouldn't idle, kept stalling, when I got it started it wouldn't go into gear without a lot of coaxing. Finally got to where I could open the hood and have a look, one of the shorty wires had come off the coil. Pressed them all back in good and secure and we were back to normal. You would think that with two plugs on each cylinder there would not be that much of a problem, but man did it run bad.
