So it looks like I’ll have the B&G stage 2 pcm in the car by about 5pm tonight J
What do you guys think will be the most noticeable differences right off the bat?
Apparently these things can take up to 1500 km’s to break in and learn your car or something crazy…

Hey Jay007 let me know how your pcm treats you. I will be ordering one as well in the next month. Also where did you end buying it from ? I started to gather the parts for the 426 build now, look out i'm sure there will be some broken parts next spring. So Jay007 whats the next mod on the list ??

Right out of the box you'll notice it shifts more firmly. Also with just a few miles mine spun the wheels while applying full throttle from a 20 MPH roll. After about 400 miles now it really roasts the tires in 1st gear. I also got 2/10ths off my 1/4 mile time 12.99 vs. 13.24

Sale price for the stage 2 pcm from High Horse Performance comes to $806.95 USD with some minor us freight costs (getting the factory pcm from B&G to HHP)… I keep my original pcm at this price.

I ended up paying an extra $42 USD to expedite it to get here before my vacation trip on Thursday this week…

The taxes will be paid at the door probably on the full $806.95 USD ($850 CAD), so about another $50…

I’ll keep you posted on the brokerage and any duties they will hit me with upon delivery… We stated the replacement value was $350 rather than the $800 or whatever to save the brokerage… I’d guess I’ll be looking at about another $50-100 CAD…

When all is said and done, to get the B&G to Calgary I’ll be looking at around $1050… If you are in no rush and pay for regular ground freight I’d think you’d be close to a grand Canadian with the currency exchange where its at now…

I’d be happy with that! From what I’m reading this tune really wakes up the car… the 100% throttle in 1st gear has gotta be fun and probably worth the money on its own!

Next mod on the list…. Unfortunately this will probably be it for this summer… car will likely be parked in early October…

The only thing I’d be willing to buy asap is a better 180 or 170 degree stat that’s got a larger opening…. The one I have now seems to move less water and heat up as much or more than the stock one when the cars sitting in traffic… The only benefit is when your constantly driving it keeps things cooler…. Suggestions?

It's probably not the t stat if it's running cooler going down the road. Your fan needs to come on at a lower temp. The B&G will do this too or you can do the fan mod.

Good to hear... Hopefully the B&G will fix the higher temps then… How much cooler temps did you see after the B&G?

So it turns out that I only ended up paying GST ($21.99) on the $350, and there was no additional brokerage or duties to pay at the door! (lets hope I don’t get a bill in the mail a month later)

All said and done it came to about $872 CAD and took 7 business days to get here (partially due to the American holiday on the 4th).
Less than I expected, now lets go see if it was worth it ;)

I just checked the weather here and there. You'll be about 10 degrees Celcius less than here today (about 18 degrees farenheit), so we are certainly cooler, but no ice. Sorry

So I got her installed last night in about 15 minutes after struggling with the wiring harness clips for a bit…
Took her out for a test drive and I am definitely impressed…

Right off the bat from starting her up she already sounded better! Something to do with the raised idle or possibly the advanced timing adjustment…. (and I only have 91 octane in the car at the moment)

Driving it around the power seems better and more balanced, the shifts are way harder and you even feel the 2-3 shift @ 160k+ jolt your head back! The shift points are also noticeable higher and the car really screams up top!

The road temp last night was very hot so I didn’t notice too much more low end wheel spin having the 100% throttle in 1st gear, but possibly that may come with time as the pcm learns the car… The real test will be at the track with getting my 2.2 60’ down to hopefully a 2.0.

Anyways… I haven’t driven her enough yet to notice a difference in operating temps… will get back here after my road trip once this things broken in with more feedback.

Just got back from vacation out at Grand beach last night and put about 3000 kms on the car... she runs great! Lots of power and shes a dream on the highways... no limp mode problems or anything like that at all... even pulled on a 07 shelby up top this afternoon from about 150-180ish... he did have 2 passengers though... either way, I think those cars are a little overrated.

Highway MPG was about 16.5 with cruise set at 150... she'll get the 18 MPG or just a little better at around 115.

Hey Justin, any problems with the HID's on your trip. I install a beamer kit and flickered so bad actually they even shut off. I left the kit in but just put the regular bulbs back in for now. I bought some 470uf caps but they are rated for 50v, not sure if that is the same cap you installed or not. Just wanted to find out how your kit works before fartin around with this one. Great to hear you B&G pcm worked great.

Ordering directly from Josh at High horse performance worked fine... they are easy to deal with and the only advise I would give is to value the pcm at the replacement cost of $350 USD and you'll pay little to no brokerage or duties...
all in all, its worth the money for sure!

My HID's are still not 100%... I have lost both sides as well with the flickering problem... I replaced the relay after the original one that comes with the Beamers kit eventually called it quits... I now have a little larger cap across the coil and it seems to be working better, but its yet to be fully tested... I can let you know in a few days after I get back from another road trip (wedding) this weekend...

I bought the same damn kit, sounds like nothing but problems. Chuse2Muse took his same kit to E H Electronics and had it installed. No issues at all, he is running a small 12v light under the hood to keep a constant draw and also another relay from what we could see with no use of caps. I think I'll just run it over to this guy and get it done, I hate pissin around repairing problems all the time. Chuse2Muse has been running this kit for 2 years already and only had to replace a bulb.

I'm almost thinking about putting this kit in my Model A and buying the proper kit from AAC, the flicker free kit. HID's would sure look cool in a rat rod. or even put them in the Chevelle since i'm boltin on 20's and 22's for the modern look.

so far, so good with the new relay and a slightly larger cap on the coil... no problems at all on the weekend.
