So I have a basic plug and play HID kit that I installed with the “fix” (470 uf capacitor across the relay coil pins 85&86).
The system was working well for a few weeks with no flickering.
Then last night after driving for about an hour with the lights on, I park, wait the 30 seconds for the lights to shut off, and they don’t go off..??!!
They were on automatically with the light sensor as it was dark out, and I didn’t have the knob in the on position (in auto). I then played with the switch to see if I could trigger the relay to turn them of and they would not shut off.
(I ended up pulling the HID kits main fuse to get the lights to go out, leaving it out over night, re-installing it this morning and now the system seems to be back to normal)
My best guess is maybe the cap is a little too big for the application and on longer trips (an hour) it is holding too much of a charge to fully discharge and trigger the relay to turn off..???
Either way, anyone heard of this? Had the same problem? Or know how I could fix it??
