I told you guys I would post some pics when I was done. Well, I finished and http://www.300cforums.com/forums/images/smilies/new/scared.gif http://www.300cforums.com/forums/images/smilies/new/scared.gif , it's a different car, and I LOVE IT!! I took forum member Bowser for a ride and now he knows what his next mod is going to be.

We start with the stock exhaust sounds – no other modes yet…

For those of you that don't know, the install was to add Magnaflow hi-flo cats and the Corsa cat back exhaust at the same time. I would highly recommend both Magnaflow and Corsa. The Corsa boxes were packed like I was having something fragile installed:

After unpacking everything, my first concern was would the Magnaflow bolt up to the Corsas? Without issue

So I layed out the complete system to make sure there were no issues.

Now disassembly. I drove the car up on ramps in the front and put the back on jackstands. Sure it would have been nice to have a lift, but then I wouldn't have been able to say I did it.

The Corsa instructions are extremely easy to follow and everything was better than expected. They even told you what sockets were needed and pictures for every step.

The hardest part is removing all of the rubber hangers from the factory system. The two on each rear resonator are bolted in and are easier to take off the factory equipment once on the ground. The other two on each side you aren’t so lucky with. Use a little WD-40 on the hangers and they will slide right off.

The driver side is the only piece that unbolts from the stock exhaust system, the rest of it’s welded, but comes out in one piece pretty easily.

When removing the converters, don’t forget about the O2 sensors. I found it easier to unplug them and remove them after the converters were out.

You can definitely see the differences between the stock converters and the new Magnaflows – they seem to be missing some bends….

Once the system was out, it was the reverse process to install the new exhaust

The Corsa system comes with the same clamps as the factory. I needed nothing else to complete this install besides the parts that came with the Magnaflow and Corsa systems

And here is what is sounds like when it’s all done, no other mods (hide the children and women, it sounds mean)

There are more pictures out on the web if you want to see them. PM me with any questions and I hope this is beneficial.

BTW: Probably would have taken me between 1 and 2 hrs, but I was taking a lot of pictures.

Just did this exact install this weekend!! Great write-up!! I came across a couple issues and wanted to share for anyone else out there...

LAY-DOWN:
1. The Driver's Side Axle pipe was slightly misshapen on the inlet side, preventing it from sliding onto the X-pipe assembly. I was able to restore the roundness to it with relative ease by using a hammer and the pointed end of a vice. NO-BRAINER RECOMMENDATION: Always lay out the parts prior to attempting the install.

DISASSEMBLY:
1. The inboard nut on the driver side flange connection is difficult to get a tool on. After a little work, I was finally able to get a wrench on it, but it was tough.

2. The stock exhaust system didn't want to disconnect from the mid-pipes, so I ended up disconnecting the mid-pipes and taking everything out together. Once out, it did take a decent amount of effort to get the mid-pipes out of the cat-back pipes, so it would have been EXTREMELY difficult had I continued trying while under the car.

Magnaflow/Corsa INSTALLATION:
1. RECOMMENDATION: print out and utilize the LX Service Manual pages to assist with installation of the cat-pipes (mid-pipes).

2. Specific items of note: the cat-pipes connect to the headers via a BALL FLANGE, so there will be some movement to work with. RECOMMENDATION: Tighten the upper nuts first, as this will help ensure the outlets of the mid-pipes are sitting as high as possible (keeping the downstream X-pipe off of the crossbar). TORQUE SPECS: 106 in-lbs initial torque, 25 ft-lbs final torque. (2006 LX Service Manual).

3. RECOMMENDATION: Re-install the crossbar as soon as you have the new X-pipe installed. This will allow you to keep an eye on clearances as you are installing and adjusting the remainder of the exhaust.

I hope this additional info helps.

This Corsa/Magnaflow combo sounds incredible. I can't wait to go out and drive some more once this stupid rain stops.

Just wondering if anyone has some dyno before and after runs with the hi flow cats & cat back exhaust? I know my neighbor put the corsa cat backs on and gained about 8hp&tq, but i haven't seen numbers on the cats.

Any help would be appreciated...
