A donk is basically a car/truck/scooter/4 wheeler whose BIG wheels dramatically change the ride height of a car for the worse IMO.
Kinda like these...

Very true. Those are actually the 27/22 inch weird Lexani Johnsons or Magnums I believe. I saw a 300c with those exact wheels actually on his car, but I dont consider them to be true 27 inch wheels since they are really 22s. I wish I could find that picture...

I dont like the statement "All donks are garbage". Here in Cleveland, Ohio we have many donks and cars on the biggest rims. Its a culture and some are handed down Caprices or Impalas from fathers, mothers, etc. So some of us do not choose the cars we have here. There are not alot of aftermarket things for Caprices such as body kits and that stuff. So money is spent on wheels that make the car look cool. We do the best with what we have and if its a Donk then so be it. Hard earned money and long hours are put into these cars, and yes Donks are still cars like the ones you all drive imagine that.
To classify a Donk as anything but a cool car is wrong. Its a lifestyle and it is keeping the automobile market on the incline. Sure most of you grew up with cool cars, such as Corvettes or Cudas and working on them was a favorite past time for some of you. It is the same for us. To see 26s on a car is a bit odd, but if you were there when the individual bought them and could see the enjoyment of owning a new set of rims on his or her face, youd see that Donks arent garbage.
Its all about keeping up with the societal norm. Way back when, people tried to get the biggest TV or even to be the 1st with a washer/dryer combo. Its no different now. I feel that it is a way for whites and black and puerto ricans and asians to get together to talk about cars. Some of the embroidery on the seats of Donks are spectacular. The paint on some are one of a kind works of art. Whether youre black, white, purple, or green in skin color, Donks, Muscle, and Ricers are ALL cars and a way for us younger generation teens to stay out of trouble.
I appreciate the hard work put into Donks. If you are given a $1000 car and work your butt off every day in order to buy the things you want with what you have, then go right ahead and buy 26s and a lift kit and screw 6.5s randomly into door panels to make it LOUD. Its hard to understand paying more for wheels than for a car, but to some, wheels show that "you made it" and that "you done came down". Its a culture and we do the best with what we have and thats all we can do...

dude no offense... but this statement "So money is spent on wheels that make the car look cool."
No... see that's exactly it... it DOESN'T look cool.
The term "polishing a turd" comes to mind on this one too..
Not everyone competes for the biggest everything... all that money spent... could be spent on a car that NOT a POS.
Infact, one passed me today with a harmonic balancer that was f**ked up. Wow, that's cool. FIX YOUR HARMONIC BALANCER BEFORE BUYING 10,000 DOLLAR RIMS.
And why and when did the race thing get brought up? I see stupid white trash rolling donks all the time, infact I'd say a good half the people I see driving them are wiggers and trash, the rest are black. I've seen a few hispanics... I don't know why race was pulled in to this at all, it's not the color of people being made fun of, or even the type of people... it's the cars.
and 1 out of 30 donks I see even has a paintjob, let alone tv's and a system. Just a 4wd truck lift and some hideous stupid looking rims.
The donks are the handicapt of the car world. Those poor, poor vehicles.

Its easy for you to say that when you have $5000 to throw away on sploaters. You are missing the point here. Come to Cleveland, Ohio or go to Texas. There are quality Donks everywhere. Point is that most of these cars are the only cars that people can afford. For $1000 you can own a car, which is 1000 times better than car payments. Then once you get paid, some goes to insurance and some goes into the car and the rest puts food on the table.

Wait till u can afford something that isn't retarded. I've seen "quality donks" they look like turds lifted on metal. First time I saw one, I thought it was a joke.

And race was never brought into this negatively. I was stating that it is a way for all the races to get together and have a good time. You dont normally see whites, blacks, and puerto ricans hanging out TOGETHER having a good time, at least not here in Cleveland. But when you involve cars, race seems to be put aside to have a great time showing off Donks, Muscle cars, or anything we have worked hard on.
When you see Asians, whites, and blacks come together to share a hobby that each enjoys soo much, you see how this world has evolved. Its pretty cool to see it!

I can even deal with the new thing in Indiana (its big everywhere, but here in indianapolis its HUGE..) Old schools... everybody has to have an old school, nobody even knows what kind of car it is, when asked... it's an "Ode Skoo"
It's really really annoying, but some of them are tight.
The only ones that make me SICK are classic muscle "ODE SKOOS" on rims.... unacceptable you dont put 24's on a chevelle or charger.
MagnumRT05
07-06-2007, 03:35 AM
You have your opinions and I have mine. Some think spinners are "retarded" as well. I put them on my 2000 Dodge Stratus because thats all I could afford when I started to drive at 16. I knew nothing about body kits and could not afford labor to install body kits or that such thing. I got hassled at high school for putting them on my V6 Dodge, but I liked it and I could afford to do it myself. Its the same way with Donks. Heck, Donks are so popular that there is a magazine dedicated to that lifestyle. Its just not for everyone, especially people with money who can afford to not have what has been passed down by a parent or grandparent...

However, when you dont know how to work on engines of a Chevelle or dont have the money to do it, you get rims. Its all about getting the biggest ones you can fit. People are doing it with 24s on LX cars. Go Big or Go Home
EDIT: It will be hard to completely outlaw this lifestyle with all the youth participating now. I will be the first one there to support it!

You can support it, but for them to be driven on the road is another thing..Most all are unsafe, and some get away with it, by putting the bars on the front, backs and sides for bumpers. That is where the law is coming in at...Vehicle cannot be but so high, or the bumper that is.

Well put. At least your mind is open to culture. The same thing goes with lowriders, tuners, etc. Not everyone on this planet wants to look alike.
And its kinda funny how a couple of years ago DUb's or 20's or bigger were considered 'hood', now i see everyone with them, go figure! Ive read so many comments when these LX's 1st came out like, "22's are way too big and with a 35 series tire you are sure to mess up your wheels, suspension, engine, etc." Now its the norm to ride 22's on a LX and more are switching over to 24's. wow:roll:
For example, i personally do not care for 20's and would never put them on my car but i respect the fact that the owners like their 20's. But then again, some people dont care about culture, or respect for others which is why prejudice thinking is alive and strong in America today.
