More than likely you are accidently touching it with your foot when you get in.

Wow, that would be magical, sort of like the Lexus that can parallel park! I've had my fully loaded 2005 C for just under 3 yrs. and the parking brake has never done me the favor of automatically engaging or disengaging. That is a very strange phenomenon that I have never read about in the forums.

Mine has never set it's self yet either but then I've only had the car for 6 months or so.. If it don't do it soon I'm gonna take it to the deal and complain :-)

My parking brake does this believe it or not? I'm driving down the highway and boing boing i look down and the light is down. I just reach down and pull the lever. Probally the switch needs some tweeking or the metal arm needs bent. I plan on checking this out on Saturday while the wife's at work.

The parking brakes are not supposed to self apply. It is a common thing on early LX's for the pedal to drop over bumps. The parking brake shoes require adjustment. The cables are not pulled tight enough, and are adjusted by adjusting the shoes. To adjust:
1. Put vehicle in neutral.
2. Raise rear of vehicle so you can rotate wheels.
3. Make sure parking brake is released.
4. Remove the plugs on the backing plates.
5. Using a drum adjusting spoon, on the left side rotate the star adjuster wheel toward the rear of the vehicle until the wheel dead locks and will not turn. Back off the adjuster (Rotate adjuster wheel in opposite direction) until only a light drag is felt rotating wheel.
6. Repeat this process on right side, except rotate the adjuster wheel towards the front of the vehicle to tighten, the opposite direction to backoff.
7. Check operation of parking brakes before putting the plugs back in.
8. Put plugs back in and lower vehicle.
