As a note the gear ratios on the RWD are different than the AWD so, the end user will need to change the rear center section as well.

That'd be awesome to slap under an SRT! Not affording it this year though :-(

That would be an interesting project for someone. However, I'm thinking there would be additional suspension work involved. AWD struts for sure, maybe upper and lower control arms, sway bar, etc. The steering controls are also different. And, would you have to change to AWD wheels? If you like a challenge, this could be for you! Better do some homework though.

In my honest opinion, the acceleration on a HEMI AWD is not as good as a HEMI RWD. The acceleration is slightly subdued. This AWD system is better matched to the 3.5L as far as better acceleration is concerned. Your only gain on a HEMI would be winter traction.

The very slight loss in acceleration would be made up in traction dry pavement as well. The slight negative would NOT outweigh the advantages of turning any Hemi engine into all wheel drive.

And what about the 3.06 axle ratio & the snit HAL is going to throw because of it?

With some members now doing some serious hp increases to their AWDs, (e.g. 392ci), if they get as aggressive as some of RWD guys, these drivetrain parts for the AWD might be needed as low cost replacement parts in the near future!

Spreading out the extra hp/torque to one or more wheels could only help in the 'I got too much power, now I'm breaking parts' scenarios that we are starting to see.
I bet an awd srt would absolutely rule at the track..

I agree completely. Someone is going to have an EXTREMELY unique R/T or SRT8 soon.

I have run 13.3 in my AWD. That was not very subdued.

I would love AWD, but the gear ratio changes and the fact that long tubes don't work... it just seems like its better to start with AWD, and upgrade...

I have run 13.3 in my AWD. That was not very subdued. Nope, sure ain't - nice numbers indeed!
I've only gotten to feel one 'launch' in a Red AWD RT and it was pretty impressive. I still have to figure that equally tuned/built cars, one an AWD and the other an RWD - that the AWD will kick some butt.
I'd like to think we will see just that at Silver Dollar Raceway, no?

A RWD R/T W/the same cam/head combo & a good set of drag radials will post similar, perhaps slightly better times.
If the RWD R/T had the 3.06 FDR of the AWD, I would expect @ least another .2 off of the ET.
This AWD swap will probably not work in an R/T due to the nearly 10% increase in gear reduction. I don't believe HAL will tolerate it W/O an irreversable ESP hack.
The SRTs however will probably take it in stride as the gear ratios will be very close to stock.
If you are contemplating this swap in an R/T, you'd better look into the gear ratio changes and computer compatability (ESP) before you leap.
