I need to know what is behind this receiver in the Magnum. Is this a satalite ready receiver? Or is dodge putting the sirius on the FM? What other ports are on the back of this thing? Where can I get stats on this?

I would think your best bet would be to go to the parts/service counter of a dealership, see if they have one in stock as a part or see if they can let you CHECK out the service manual for those items. I know it is a long shot.

All i can tell you is that it is Sirius Satellite Radio capable with 12 Sirius station pre-sets and 12 AM & FM presets.
According to the Dodge website, all of the available radios in the RT can have Sirius added to them. There is a connector on the back of the radio that the Sirius unit plugs into. It is a 12 pin connector, of which Dodge uses 7 pins. The Sirius signal is routed directly INTO the factory HU, and does not use FM modulation to broadcast the signal over an FM frequency.
Initially, I thought it would be easy to add an external source (MP3 player or stand alone satellite radio unit), but the engineers are using this "wonderful" BUS system where everything communicates with everything else!
According to the service manual, the Sirius tuner has a BUS + and a BUS - connector that transmit DATA to the other components of the BUS system.
Back to the drawing board on getting an aftermarket source to communicate with the factory HU!
I hope this info helps....and FYI, I have the most basic CD player in my RT.

Ok cool to hear that the system will not use fm connection. Now I wonder if I can add an external amp to this raido. hmmm. Do any of you know if the boston acoustic speakers in this magnum have a pretty good depth of sound? I know that the 300 has a subwoofer and so since the magnum looks almost the same I wonder if I can add the same

Just wondering if you (or anyone else for that matter) have had any luck in adding an external source to one of the factory radios?
No luck on my end. I just ended up buying a factory nav unit. I will add the rest of my aftermarket stuff FROM there.

Here is the picture of the back of the nav unit. Correction on the 12 pin that someone mentioned above. It is a 10 pin. Also I went and purchased the Satalite receiver 174.00 FROM dodge and the cables are seperate 124.00. They did not have the cables, so I will have them tomorrow. The weird thing is the satalite receiver has a 12 pin square connector, but the back of the radio has a 10 pin. You can tell the 12 pin on the receiver looks wider. Hope the kit that comes tomorrow will solve that problem.
