I love my car, I only thought it sounded too quiet.. I saw a post FROM someone who did 4 new mufflers and he says it is not for the faint at heart.. I did not want my car to sound like a Ram truck..
I went to the muffler shop and had them remove the rear " Mufflers" and REPLACE them with a straight pipe and 3" tapered tips. The tips are just like stock but a little bigger..
The sound.. It was exactly what I wanted, not too loud but you can tell it is a V8.. I would reccommend this to anyone who thinks there RT is too quiet but does not want to sound like a truck..... I bet the mufflers weigh 15 lbs each too...

Sound clips? You replaced the mufflers or the resonators with straight pipe? How much $?

I replaced the rear resonators, it was only $65... 3 " tips and labor, if they cut the stock ones off the resonators and used the stock ones it would of been $40.....
I do not have any way to make a sound clip aside FROM taking my laptop which I guess would not be that hard... I will see if I can do it.
The muffler people said it sounded like a Mustang Mach 1 Exhaust.. You can tell it is not stock but just barely, it sounds like it could almost be..

How is the sound in the interior at 70 mph? Do you have more resonance in the interior now?

EXAGGERATING a bit???? I said it sounded like it could almost be stock but you could tell it is not.. I also said I did not want it to sound like a RAM truck and that it did not..
Not sure what you mean by it is not much different, I can hear the exhaust now, before I could not FROM inside the car.. I am still waiting for a good CAT back system but for now mine sounds great

Beauty is in the ear of the beholder.
But, I don't think there's any better way djclause could have described his results. Seems pretty straightforward, I definitely didn't read anything INTO it.

geesh, seriously chill out. I read what you said, but you could tell it was a V8 reving the engine with it completely stock. The only difference I hear now is a tone around 2-3000 rpms. And when you aren't giving it gas, the tone goes away. Just like it was stock. It sounds louder starting up in a parking garage but every car is louder there. Besides that there is no difference. I was just giving a second opinion to those who havnt done it yet and were thinking about doing it. You gave me (from reading your post) the impression it was great. I however want more of a hot rod sound, than a quiet family car. So for those who want the same, this simply is not the answer. However a full cat back system may be. Once they are made though.
From the looks of other posts, apparently Flowmaster has something in the works and the exhaust shop I had this done at knew that Borla had a part number, but the kit wasn't done yet.
So perhaps now our opinions are a little clearer. If you don't want to wake the neighbors up but want to know that your exhaust comes out the back, then chop em off. Otherwise, wait for a full system. Then your neighbors will be sure to love you
