Hmm...di you double check your lug not torque? If not my only other thought would be uneven wear and now that they are rotated it is causing the shimmy feeling.

Funny thing is my car was rock solid at all speeds...If there was uneven tire wear wouldnt you think I would notice it before the switch???Lug nut torque????????I used an impact gun??there definitly not loose...

When side to side, did you mean dismounting tire from wheel and remounting on other side wheel. If not, removing the wheel/tire from one side and mounting on the other will cause tire to rotate in opposit direction. On some steel belted tires it is recomended not to change rotation direction.

I hope you seriously didnt use an impact to tighten your lugs...

If they got overtightened it can warp the rotor, hub, cause a wobble....

torque spec is 110 Ft/Lbs. Impacts can go up to 600 or more

Impact wrench .... bad Ricky Bobby. :) Just take them off and get some Foose wheels (you know, like your favorite Mustang) and be done with it!

I understand what your saying, but it does have an adjustment and I didnt sit there for a 1/2 hour per lug nut with the impact on it waiting to snap wheel studs...lol...I dont understand why its so important on these cars regarding torque specs to tightin a wheel..Never had to worry about that on the 50 or so vehicles I have owned over the years..However I will do what you suggest and check the torque..Thanks for the info...

I have heard that before, but there are other members that have done this with out issues..Tires only have 8900 miles on them when switched..FYI I switched the tire and wheel not just the tire..Thanks for the info...

are you supposed to change the rotational direction on those tires? i don't think it is recommended.

crack all wheel nuts loose. retorque in three steps 60/85/110 using a diagonal pattern.

I'm failing to see the problem here....80 is just a brief moment before you get to 90!!

Side to side rotation is unusual, unless you use the old "X" pattern rotation like we used to do with bias ply tires.

You didn't mention what tires you have. Some are designed to rotate only one way. They generally have arrows pointing the right direction on the sidewall. Others have an outside and an inside.

If all the torquing suggestions don't work. Try moving them back to the original positions. If it's all OK, then try rotating back and front on the same side and see what happens.

Thanks for the info bud..But I have a srt-8 Cant go front to back..Different tire sizes. So I go side to side"Better then nothing at 200 plus a pop...Oh the F-1s are not directional.....

i've got the same thing @ 80 mph. i think i read over on the 300cforums that it was an alignment thing, hard to believe. try a search over there.

i had my tires balanced an rotated at dealer..didnt fix problem just before i saw the info on 300cforums

I said the same thing long ago. But these rides must be torqued properly, or you'll get the shimmies everytime. They are so picky, I'll go at them three times working my way up. It will make a difference.

No one has mentioned balance? I mean there is a chance that something got shifted and even a little change in balance can give you high speed shimmys. I have had that corrected before.

That's what I'm hoping. Same problem between 78-84.

Well I think the reason is that he did not have a problem prior to rotating them. But "road force balancing" is the only way to go. I found a local place that has a Hunter tire balancer, that thing is the ****z.

Yup, my SRT/8 doesn't have 500 miles yet and has a vibration at about 68MPH+. I'm pulling and torqing the lugs this weekend to see if that stops it. If not....to the dealer we go.

vibration at about 68MPH

got all excited and couldn't wait one more huh.... Hey Ron, did you ever get this resolved??

Stopped my buddies service garage on the way home tonight and used his torque wrench and re-torqued all my lug nuts to 110 ft lbs.

I was surprised to find out how many were not at 110, and I just put these on last week ! Drivers side fornt was really off. I noticed that the shimmy I had before was alot better, not all gone, but alot better.

Re-torquing does make a difference.

You need HubCentric rings.

Check your local Tire store and see what they can do for you.

This weekend I got out the old Torque wrench and put on a 13/16 deep well socket and attacked the lug nuts. It made a BIG difference. I no longer have the vibration I had at 68 MPH. It's gone. None of the lug were tightened to 110 lbs. Most were sitting there at about 80. So I loosened all on each wheel and gradually tightened them like FNKY mentioned here earlier.

Wonder why this isn't done during dealer prep?

tese are rear wheel drive cars you only need to rotate front to nack not side to side or the x pattern and oh yes the dealer warped my rotors on a rotation at 10k miles so they gave me new rotors.

You might not have to do it, but in my experience you can without a problem. A relative has an 05 300C and I swap his summer wheels/tires for winters and back again every spring and fall. Each time I move the rears straight forward and corss the fronts to the back. Both tire sets are Continentals, and there hasn't been a problem yet. Maybe the SRT tires (F1s?) are more sensitive.
