I did this little "timeline" of the 2005 Chrysler 300's development:

1991 300 (http://img22.photobucket.com/albums/v65/DakotaSport/CHR2000101239899__mid.jpg)

1998 Chronos (http://img22.photobucket.com/albums/v65/DakotaSport/327891Chrysler_Chronos_Concept_1__mid.jpg)

2000 Nassau Photoshop Filter "Drawing" (http://img22.photobucket.com/albums/v65/DakotaSport/2004lxc4.jpg)

200(?) Chrysler "300N" (http://img22.photobucket.com/albums/v65/DakotaSport/04conc4.jpg)

2000 Nassau Design Car (http://img22.photobucket.com/albums/v65/DakotaSport/f92206a6.jpg)

2003 300C Pre-Production Concept (http://img22.photobucket.com/albums/v65/DakotaSport/580651cv2003_051-h__mid.jpg)

2005 300 Production Car (http://img22.photobucket.com/albums/v65/DakotaSport/300C22.jpg)

Pretty cool to see. The *Nassau fills in the missing space between the '98 and '03 gaps. The green Nassau "drawing" looks like it's a picture of the real car, but with Photoshop's "Dry Brush" filter. The background of that rendition is FROM this picture (http://img22.photobucket.com/albums/v65/DakotaSport/CHR2001010941111__mid.jpg), subtract the Super Hemi 8.

*Note: Info on the 2000 "Nassau" can be found on Allpar at the link below:

Great timeline Chris!

You can really see that the influences for the current production car started a looooong time ago.

Thanks Anthony! :)

Amazing how the basic *basic* looks for the '05 model began way back in 1991.

What happened to the two door DROP top that chrysler had the 300 hemiC. Is that still coming out or is the 2005 300C what that car became.

The 300 Hemi C never was, and never became anything (that we know of at the time). It was not related to the development of the 300C at anytime.

You're talking about this beauty:

It was just a concept, but it would be a nice addition to Chrysler's DROP top collection.

This is the one that I'd like to see produced:

Good work. Shouldn't this be "2004 300 Production Car"?

Nope, the 300's being sold now are all 2005 models, not '04's.

I also love the 300 Hemi C ragtop, awesome car... :)

The 300's being sold now are 2005 models? Really! :D DUH! I have one!

However, you state that you are making a "timeline" so you can not place or describe a 2005 event in 2004. Maybe it should be "2004 - 2005 300 Production Car"

Aha!! I get ya. :) I was just going by model years, but I can see how that would have caused confusion.

I was gonna say, "Geez, I can't believe that E55 KEV doesn't know the LX cars are 2005 models...' :P

E8502, I was looking at the timeline as something that people would view say 5-10 years FROM now. The timeline would indicate that we had a concept in 2003 and then nothing happened until the production car came in 2005. Sorry, I get anal retentive sometimes. Good Work!

Here's the "300N" sedan FROM back in 2000 (thanks Longlivechrysler :) )

Ahhhh....I remember that one. Did you want that incorporated somewhere in the timeline? I think its more of an "LH" style then "LX" IMHO.

I think the "N" was to be something of a branch where the Timeline is concerned. I remember reading in Allpar where the "N" was to be the sporty sedan and the New Yorker was the larger, uh, more stately vehicle. I'd think budget cuts among other things put an end to such an idea.

I believe you're correct in saying that the "N" was the "sports sedan" of the LX bunch, back in the early build phases of the LX project (think 300 Hemi C convertible).
