Here is the deal.
After looking foreverrrr I found a rim I like. My options for size were same width 18", 20" or 22" or staggered in 20" (8.5fr & 10rr). After a long month of checking tire availiblity and future possible interest (bagging) I chose the 20 staggered.
I wanted something bigger then the 18" and the 22" had a huge lip and I don't think I would like that on the front as well as the rear. I really like the look of more lip in the back.

The problem, after 5 weeks of being on order nobody still knows when the 20 x 8.5 will arrive or when they are even being shipped ( I believe from overseas). Actually, they usually don't even know what they (wheel company) are getting on the shipments that they know will be arriving until they see the shipper. How is that for running and operating a business?

22" were made available to me earlier as they had arrived but I decided to wait for what I really wanted and it was more money which I am already maxxed out on for these.
Now the 20" are now available but all 10" NOT staggered. Still not what I really wanted.
Question is would you still hold out for the 8.5 in the front or go for the 10's all the way around. I am ASSuming the 20x10 and 22x10 would have the same huge lip so that makes me want to say no to the 20's for the reason I did not order the 22's. Remember, holding out for the 8.5 could put you out months away yet, maybe, if you are lucky (unlucky).

Oh, if ,when and after they do arrive they still have to go out for PowderCoating and painting then sent to my vendor or visa versa then tires mounted and shipped to me. So this could be a very unusable summer for my car. I have 100% snow tires on now, don't have others to replace them with as I didn't think it would take this long.

What Would You Do?

This is no fault of the direct vendor I am using. He can only relay the information he gets from the wheel company.

It seems you have a clear picture of what you want and what you can afford, and you should get it. You want those rims, you want the stagger, you want the size... do you really want to settle for something else? The fact that the manufacturer cannot quantify what will be in their shipments would unsettle me and make me wonder about the product quality.

If I were in your situation, I'd back away from the deal, but that's me.
Keep looking around at other products... not just online, but go all the local dealers you can. See if you can find similar product, or even something you like better.

I would say it would definitely depend on your patience. The post above make sense to me also. I wouldn't want a vender that can't get a product within a normal amount of time. What happens if you damage one wheel. You going to wait 6 months for a replacement?

I look elsewhere.

Wait on what you really want? What is the name/model of this rim?

Ya I see what I want.
The only hands on of these is I saw the 22x10 at an auto show and I definitly wouldn't want that lip all the way around. So I am assuming the lip is the same on a 20 or 22 at 10" wide

I have called other places that "carry or can get these" but they are getting the same run around right now as my vendor is. They always say tomorrow or Monday or... they will be in but when I call back the order has not arrived yet.

The rim is the Hipnotic C - Note

I keep looking, websites, rim places, mags. I saw rims I liked in the past but these are the only ones I have seen and would hate to give up. So its the rim.... unless something else catches my eye.

The quality of the product has nothing to do about the time frame. I am the vendor that Dave is refering to. The C Notes are a new wheel for 07. Like 99.9% of all wheels they are made in China, and most brands are made by only a few different manufacturers. Right now Hipnotic has over $400K of orders out there they can't fill until the containers arrive from China. They also have no idea or control on how those containers are loaded or what wheels go into the container. Its the same situation with every other wheel company out there. "X" amount of wheels come in and they fill the orders then they have to wait til the next shipments come in to fill the rest. I agree its a pretty crappy way to do business but thats just the way it is in todays market. My advice is to grab the two rears and wait on the fronts, if this is really the wheel you fell in love with.
