Heh, I embarrassed a 5spd (6spd?) Z28 - the older style with the sunken headlights - with my Hemi....Durango.
Yeah, I was surprised, but after the second time, she (yeah, SHE!) amazingly starting driving very slow and quit weaving in and out of traffic.
I think you 300C guys will find that the power this Hemi has at higher speeds is phenomenal!

The 300C (and Magnum) aer amazing at high speeds. This is one of those cars that can still pack a punch over 85-95 mph. And doing it all, very quietly. Too bad the U.S. spec model is governed at 128.

I've just about every car that has pulled up on the side of me and gave me that look. That look means your car ain't $hit, so with that said I have had to SHOW many cars the power of the HEMI. I think the funniest one yet was a guy in a 300 Base didn't want to do it but I remind you he pulled up on me. The story pretty much goes the same for al of the cars that have foolishly tested me. I turn the ESP off put the car in the 2nd autostick gear, the light changes, my tires make a lot of noise, I look back in the mirror, car seems to still be at the light. I'm then on the next block. Thanks Chrysler.

You're a hero.....
Hemi vs a 2.7L and you won? Who would have guessed?
Shame on you for 'beating' your fellow LX cousin!

thats like saying if a child wants to fight in the heavy weights its ok to beat the sh$t out of him. should of told him to grow up and race when he gets a car worthy of contest. Then again maybe he just wanted to see how bad he would lose and if he should of put up the extra cash to be one of the big boys of the road.

Hello, Capitalcity R/T that wasn't a Challenge to me was it, because if it is you can't be serious. I mean a 3.8L 3800 Series III Supercharged V6 SFI with Electronic Throttle Control (260 HP [149.2 kW] @ 5200 rpm, 280 lb-ft [310.5 N-m] @ 4000rpm) is pretty good, but 5.7L 340 hp V8 is even better. I don't think your GTP Comp G wants any problems with my Regal GS, let alone the 300C. The only pontiac that I think would give me any type of problem would be the new GTO, but who wants that it looks like a Sunfire. Don't take it personal, i'm not trying to be mean or anything. :D I just like talking crap online, but if you are in Chicago any time soon, look me up, I know some really good pieces of land were we can settle this.

I ran a Subaru STI the other day and there was no contest. I came up on a Lancer yesterday but the driver was more interested in McDonalds than running against the 300C.

Unless your GS is heavily modded, I don't know what the problem is. At last count, the GS (a very nice car I might add), had 240 hp stock vs. the 260 the 04 GTPs own. Therefore, you are 20 HP shy and with some minor mods, you'll catch up. Provided I do equal modifications, I will still be up the 20 horses. The car is stll to new to horse around with it but in due time, the $65 pulley and the CAI will make the car very respectable.
DCs rating of the 300C is 0-60 @6.3sec. The GTP Comp G with the 3.29 rear end is GM rated at 6.5 secs. Pretty close in my books. Top speed on the 300c, 126..GTP Comp G ...142mph. Stock vs. stock, pretty close in my books. And at $5000.00 CDN less, I can do many mods for that money. But stock, the cars are close.
I like the 300C, the Regal GS and the Comp G. I may have opted for the 300C but 1) The car wasn't available wehen I needed it 2) Being FROM Ottawa, Canada, I was very concerned about the RWD 18" wheel combo. The Regal was my pick in 2k1, but the dealer wanted too much money so I opted for the Trep R/T. And the Regal, unfortunately, it a goner at the end of this year so that left me with the Comp G.

indycoder,
GTP's of all years have been running against the STIs. I guess they don't know how to shift/clutch very well.

When you say there was no contest with the Subaru STI, you mean you got spanked right??? The STI is way faster than either of these cars. Just so everyone knows, a Subaru STI runs a 13.4 stock & has sub 5 second 0-60.

Thats if you know how to shift properly. Not everyone does.

No idea on a pack of smokes, I quit in 89, that's why I can afford a 300C. I think they are well over 10 bucks a pack with GST.

SO, I finally got a chance to stretch the legs of the 300C ... :D :D
Red Nissan 350Z tinted windows comes zig-zagging behind me and ends up next to me at the stop light.
Check the odometer, 480miles, i think it's safe to give it a try. CHECK back and forth, no cops in sight.
Ok, it's time  .
Light turns green, we take off, 350Z gets a little jump on me, 1st and 2nd gone I caught up and start passing the Z .... I end up 1/2 car ahead (that's a 300 1/2 car ahead, not a small car).
This apparently enfuriated the 350Z driver who weaves side-to-side two feet behind me until we pass a few cars and road clears again.
I lift to give him a chance to pull up next to me and give him a fair chance .. but instead he steps on it and blows by me almost two cars ahead of me ....
Ok, HEMI go to work ... full throtle, we are doing around 90 now and the road start to turn uphill, those 390ft-lb got to be doing wonders because the 350z it's pretty soon next to me and then behind me ... A glimpse down shows almost 120, I lift and slow down ....
A mile ahead of the road at a light, the 350Z pulls next to me, rolls down the window and a ~50 year old looking guy gives a little nod and goes on ....
After, all felt kind of reversed, a ~50 year old guy that looked like could be mi dad, driving a hot sport car, gets beaten by a 30 yr old in a big a$$ luxury sedan ... :P :P

The Magnum/300C's top speed isn't 126. They have a limiter at 126. Once it's removed, they'll go alot faster. Also, these LX cars have a 2.82 rear end. Once there are aftermarket gears available, they are gonna fly.

Just for the record the 300C 340 HP 390 Torque was independently tested by Car and Driver, Motor Trend, and Road and Track. 0-60s were 5.3 seconds, 5.6 seconds, and 5.8 seconds. Best quarter mile was 13.9. These are stock 300Cs with full tanks of gas. DCs etsimates were very conservative. On the street there are many documented (well stories on line) of 300Cs beating, 350 Zs, Mercedes V-8 coupes, Subaru WRX, BMW 540s and 750s. This is pretty fast company. Not trying to be pompous, justing setting things straight. I think the Pontiac GTO is a very nice car but would not think twice about taking one on - I guess I'd have to give up at 126 MPH though.

Oops meant to say Pontiac Grand Prix GTP not GTO. But that would be interesting.

Both cars are very nice and quite fast, especially for their weight. I prefer American cars so when I hear about kills on imports, I am very happy. I do like the 300C and as I said, I would have gotten one.
I do find the GTP Comp G a really nice car and like you, get tons of compliments, and that is what really counts. I don't race and I don't proclaim that the Comp G is the fastest around but for 4 dooor sedans, American built, we have powerful cars. I added a 8" KN cone filter ($57Cdn) and a 3.4" pulley ($90 CDN) and the car is now running in the middlish-upperish 5s, down FROM 6.5. All I spent was $150 bucks and dropped almost a second. Unbelievable. The GTP is an easy and inexpensive car to mod and there are lots of parts. This car costs $5000.00 less CDN than the 300C and the amenities balance each other out. If I spend another $600.00, we'll be neck and neck, but I am not interested. TRhis is my daily driver and as long as I can walk away FROM some ricers, I'll be happy.
If you're a current owner of a 300C...nice car! i hope and sure you are enjoying it as I am mine. Now I have to go to tear apart some Hondas
Take care.....
