Just so we don't have 50 topics in this forum with each and every persons review. Let's keep them all in one place. :D

I had this 300 airborne, and not by choice:

I wanted to test drive a 300, thinking it would be similar to the HEMI Magnum I'm interested in. The only models I had to choose FROM were silver base models and mid models, no HEMIs. I drove the mid model, with my wife as front passenger and the salesman in the back. I live in PA in a very hilly region - not really steep mountains, but certainly not the flatlands like NJ where I grew up.

While the saleman searched the dealership for the keys, my wife and I perused the vehicle. We liked the layout of the interior. It was spacious, clean and well organized. The trunk was huge and large enough that we even toyed with the idea of getting the 300 instead of a Magnum, but I play bass in a band and need the Magnum's extra wide access for my speaker cabinet transportation. The overall feel of the interior was nice, stylish, but not high end. The leather is OK, not crappy like Ford Mustangs, and not really supple like a Caddy or a BMW, etc. It had nice grain and didn't seem too slippery like some leather can be. I thought we held our seating postition well. The headrest pitched permanently forward and came right up to the back of my head and I wasn't used to that. It took me some time to adjust the seat back to get the rest off of my head so I could move my head more freely.

When the salesman showed up with the keys, I didn't bother with the radio because it didn't have the Boston speakers. The car had over 100 miles on it as it was driven FROM another dealership for some reason, so it was available for any sort of test drive. The salesman asked me if I wanted to take to the highway or some backroads. I picked the backroads. I love driving and always have. The hilly backroads of PA are a fine test ground and can really bring out the best and worst in a vehicle. We meandered through a well-paved narrow forest road and were able to whip the 300 through some sharper turns. It held the road very nicely and felt suprisingly nimble for its size. And the 300 is not a small car. It cruises really comfortably and is quiet and cozy. There were no rattles. The V6 was not noticable at all, and I didn't "think" it had the pep that it actually showed. I came down a steep embankment with a bit of loose gravel right in front of a stop sign doing about 40mph and gave the brakes a hard work out. The car stopped abruptly, controllably, with no hesitation and, frankly, to all of our suprise. The pedal feel was average. The 300 really brakes very effectively.

As we rounded out our drive, we came upon a railway crossing that was on an elevated bed. These were roads I have never been on. I was trying to refrain FROM upsetting my wife because she had a head cold and didn't seem together enough to be pushed around in her seat. So, the salesman, seeing the tracks, says, "Take it up to about 45 for these tracks." I just followed his recommendation and jabbed the throttle to try to bring the 4000 lbs up the grade FROM about 38mph. Anyway, we hit the top and the 300 is accellerating gloriously, and floating right over the bumpy duo of rail tracks, but little did I know what awaited us beyond.........

.........there was a DROP in the roadway of about six feet! and a gully at the bottom showing some serious marks in the macadam FROM previous unwary drivers and I was heading right OVER it! I swear, the 300 had all four wheels off the ground for at least a few feet. OK, now I'm Steve McQueen, right?, except this is a brand new 300!

I had no time to react other than to hold on. We were out of our seats when we hit the gully and that front frame member hit HARD. Momentarily, we were all a bit dumbfounded. I apologized so many times I must have sounded like a broken record, the salesman just laughed and said, "Don't worry about it. That was the most fun I've had all day," and like a good salesman, never making me feel too guitly about pounding the pavement with the new ride. Honestly, it was his fault. I didn't know the road, and just followed his direction. I really figured that he knew the test run well and never hesitated to trust him. He knew FROM the start that I wasn't out to hammer the beast and numerous times, in response to my casual and perhaps overly-courteous driving demeanor, he had said, "I haven't even heard the tires squeal."

So, now I know how the 300 really takes it. It did squash out the suspension and made me think that our own '03 Yukon would have bounced more, and probably not have bottomed out. But, hey, the car really was controllable and didn't really lose its cool. I just feel bad that there's a 300 out there that may be sold to an unsuspecting buyer as a new and respected vehicle. When the drive was over, there were still no rattles nor any indication that the car was harmed in any way.

I won't tell anyone where the car in PA is, unless you PM me.

This is my first post and I decided it would be a review of a 300C I drove. All I have to say is Oh My God. My fathers friend bought a Black 300C w/every option posible, and he let me drive it around and FROM the get go I could tell this car was something special. That new car spell in this car is fantastic and the interior looks sooooo much better then I could have ever imagined FROM the photos. The quality is out of this country(lol). My mother is mostly decided of getting rid of her 2001 BMW 3 series within the next year for this car. And my father is 90% sure of getting a Magnum within the year also. Everything about it was fantastic and that sound system was crazy too. All Ive got to say is this is definently the best american car out there.

I just did a quick road trip in the "C". Went FROM home to Texas and back in 5 days! 2600 miles total. Used a lot of gas, but the farther south I went the lower the price. I went one way and returned another. The trip down was on way too much 2 lane (but fast) roads, so return was 100% Interstate. Including 1 full day of city driving in the middle of the trip, I averaged 24.9 MPG. So the only hiway part must have been way better to get a day of city and still pull off 24.9 I had hoped for mid 20's, so I'm pleased. Car did not pull, hiccup, stumble, snort ... nothing. 2 issues .... my Darling Wife is small and couldn't get comfy on what she calls slippery seats. Next ... car loves to go fast. I met quite a few people who had questions, but one young trooper in Texas only asked one .... "do you know how fast you were going?". OK, that is a personal issue. Car also attracts bugs. Front end is blunt and they smash themselves all over it. :D

Ooo, cops really loves the 300C!! :P

Bug issue does stink...Love my LHS for that reason...The bugs go right over the jelly bean.
