Who's got some tips for driving an autocross?

Like SuperChips trans settings. Paddle hold, paddle shift, or leave it stock? Reduced torque setting?

SuperChips tuning. Worth using the performance tune?

Driving position. While doing some curvy mountin driving I had a problem with my arm hitting the center arm rest. An experienced road racer advised me to keep my arms as close to my body as possible. Seems like a "duh" idea but I wasn't concentrating on it at the time. How about seat position?

Anything else?

If you haven't done it much I'd say roll with it in auto (i guess either mode works then). Your driving posture should be comfortable, and that's about it. Obviously you should try to avoid having to hit parts of the interior while steering, as there will be a LOT of quick steering. If you're comfortable with the car, leave your traction control reduced so you can get some sliding going on. If you're not used to that sort of thing, maybe you want to leave it on because it's a fine line between sliding and spinning out. Keep the traction circle in the back of your mind and you'll be set!

I am going to use Superchips performance tune, paddle kick shifted to 1, reduced torque management, raised shift points and factory ESP "off".
I want to stay in the lowest gear and whip the tail around a bit.
I'd use paddle hold but I tend to hit the rev limiter too much.
If the course is real tight with no straights then I could use paddle hold.

I will try to take it easy on the poor guys that set up the orange cones ;)

paddle kick, in drive, esp ON, rasied shift points, reduced torque management.
In every form of driving, other than autocross, I'm a one handed driver. Old habbit, I guess but thats how I do it. It autocrossing, it's pretty hard to go one handed. Both hands on the wheel helps alot. Any little sideways action is bad news (if time is your passion) so I leave esp on. It's a freakin blast with it off but it adds time. If you are there for a drifting event, turn it off but if your trying to shave tenths per pass, leave it on. I leave it in drive for the two handed reason. Usually my right hand is on the shifter (or holding the camera) (http://moddinart.com/autoX.wmv) but it's a violent ride in there. Quick this way and thats require both hands to really land the angles required to hit all the corners the fastest ya can.
Your adrenaline will peek and like a kid off a ride at six flags for the first time, you'll run back in line with a grin on your face, a pounding in your chest and trembling hands. You'll giggle at the starter who totally understands the sharteatin grin as he sets ya off for the second time.
This, you will remember when you're old.

so. Don't so much think about settings. Mash the gas and go woohoo.

Add more air to the tires- maybe 40 on the front and 36 on the rear (start there and go up as needed).

Your goal is to not have the tires roll under on corners, you want it to slide a little bit instead.
