View Full Version : Another question... SRT brake/wheel clearance

What is the actual clear inside dimension required to fit a wheel around the SRT's brakes? I found the rotor diameter but not the extra chunk required to clear the caliper. Anybody, Bueller? Please?
Let me be more specific... I want to make sure those American Racing 311's will fit over the SRT brakes, since I've heard that some 20's don't. I would just try it but they're still an hour from my house...
Heck, while we're at it, is the spindle diameter the same on both cars? i.e., the wheel bore?

Superbump, really need to know tonight if at all possible!!! :-D
Diameter's not the issue, the face of the caliper sticks out enough, the back of many wheels will hit it.
I looked in to this at one point, I'm going to see if I can find the info on my pc...

That would be some very useful info. All I know for sure is that the AR Torq Thrust Ms do hit the calipers (Damn) and I miss em.
Ernie discovered 3 mm spacers were enough to allow the Foose Nitrous to clear, so that's how I run them. (on the front, the rear is fine)

2 x Foose Nitrous Chrome 20 x 8.5 with 15mm offset (Part Number F11728590 on MHT Wheels data sheet.)
2 x Foose Nitrous Chrome 20 x 10 with 20mm offset (Part Number F11721090 on MHT Wheels data sheet.)
2 x Toyo Proxes 4 245/45ZR20 Front
2 x Toyo Proxes 4 275/40ZR20 Back
Could have gone wider on the back from what everyone's saying.. But I'm happy! No rub...

If I remember the 20x8.5 AR 311's were a + 18 offset,so you may need a wider spacer.I do remember they were pretty close to the R/T caliper.

Thanks jaak / '31... if the AR's are a 3mm greater offset, hopefully they'll still work, maybe?

Ok i have the answer!
depending on your wheel. I have the millani witchy wheels with a +18 offset (R/T) and added the sRT stuff.. your going to need a +18 spacer on my wheels to fix it. Here is the picture. Hemi31 gave me the info then I verified it... I should of listend to him and got the spacer.. now I have a car with no front wheels.
If anyone knows of a company that will make a +18 spacer and longer bolts please let me know.. also the second picture my mechanic said this is an issue of wheel gab near the hub... im not a wheel guy so please.. not to thread steal, let me know.

I think you will definitely need a spacer. I'm getting some generic spacers of the 3mm variety with my wheels, you're welcome to them if you want. I got a set from Bones.
They should be delivered tomorrow or Friday.
EDIT: Just read the previous post, 3mm probably wont do it.

For all of you waiting with baited breath... 20" American Racing 311's do indeed fit on an SRT, but it's pretty close. Pictures will follow this weekend after I have the TPMS sensors installed and put them on my car.

SWEET cant wait to see them on your ride!
Sweet!
I'm almost wondering if we need to have some sort of wheel database... But how would you set it up?
I'm thinking next time I put the Nitrous on, to take a clear ruler and set it against the caliper to see exactly what the distance is, and take a picture. It's small.. Maybe my feeler guages would be better! LOL!
Can't wait to see them on!!!

Yeah, these were like 3/16" close...That's a mile when your dealing with fixed objects.I would have kept my 311's when I traded my R/T in but I didn't want to go to a narrower rim.

Yeah, enough of a gap that I'm not nervous. Though I did have a scare when I thought about floating calipers, but ours don't float (er, right?)
No, they don't float, and it's a good thing they don't!!!
